Better to be single or in a relationship?

It's just a matter of finding the right person, I'm happy with my partner and wouldn't trade being with her for anything and I'm not just saying this because she could probably read this...

The only thing I miss about being single is the fact that every night I went out could end in an orgy, it never did but the odds were there.

I'm ok with both to be honest. I'm in a relationship now (and have been for awhile) but really, it depends. If your both happy, make each other happy, and generally have a good time around each other, than relationship is fun and can be great. Kind of like the one I'm in now. I have fun with him, we sit and play Magic the Gathering until midnight, bash horrible movies together and generally just enjoy each other's company.

Single is better. I don't want to buy a new seat for my motorcycle as it is single rider only.

Single (and in high school, 17, and handsome) wink, wink.

But in all seriousness, I like being single especially since my parents are divorced and they always talk crap about each other to me, why would I want that when I have friends?! Single life FTW!

Getting in a relationship does sound interesting too, plus its more about finding that one partner who shares your interests. Only then will you truly be happy in a relationship and still have your friends to boot! And I did say I was in high school, dating and social interaction with old crushes comes a long way.

Its like Yin and Yang, both have their Pros and Cons and end up in perfect balance, so its based solely on ones outlook.

I enjoy being in a relationship. My girlfriend is my best friend and we have a lot of fun together. The times are good and the regular "couples time" is great too.

Now no more posts from me until I come up with something good for post #1000! I will see you lot another time!

Depends on a LOT of factors, not the least of which is the individual.

I would say after being in a 6 year relationship to which the last 2+ years were an unimaginable hell that ended with me being shot,(dont ask, I am too lazy to find the link right now) I have REALLY enjoyed being single. (even if that simply means being alone)

Personally I am somewhat introverted anyway so it actually works better for me and being in that relationship taught me I simply am not fit for human cohabitation.

However I know others simply cannot live like that. So for them more power to them, I prefer keeping my money, doing what I want, when I want, without justifying myself

I would like to try relationships again at some point soon, but I am not sure they will last. I am quite particular about having my own space, time to myself and not being bothered when I am doing other things (I will not answer the phone if I am busy gaming and so on). I can see that causing problems, so I may have to say something along the lines of "this is who I am, if you can't handle it be on your merry way".
this is pretty much me on some level except that i dont really like talking to people in general unless they're in front of me. if someone texts me or sends me a message via skype and its just nothing of value ill probably not answer or answer with a "k" or "LOL" cause i just dont care. i mean if im talking to a friend in person then i dont care what they talk about i just like being around them.( i guess that a good thing idk :p)

Also im freaking lazy (like sloth incarnate) and dont really take initiative on anything (thats bad)

My relationship "experience" can be summed up with two dates that happened almost a month ago and one of them was set up by a friend who jacked my phone.

ALSO my lack of experience is due to my HORRIBLE SHYNESS. (YAY)

OT (LOL i forgot): i kinda enjoy being single but i would like to find a girl that i could actually talk to without getting flustered in some level that isnt one of my good friends and she has to be somone whos company i can enjoy (well DUH)

ps: why did i share soo much information?

I'm happy being single, but I tend to drift so far towards the introverted side of things that people tend to worry about me. I'd say the people who say they need to be in an relationship are more unhealthy.

Also, past experiences shouldn't dampen your perception of all relationships. OP, if your ex's brother beat you up, it means he's a violent asshole, not that relationships aren't worth pursuing.

You should do what makes you happy. If you're comfortable being single, there's nothing wrong with staying single. If later on you find someone you are attracted to and want to pursue a relationship with them, that's fine as well.

Take me for example: I've been single for a while and I'm completely fine with that. I've met some interesting women, have gone on a few dates, and I even courted one for a few months. It didn't work out and we mutually broke it off, no harm no foul. I'm not too fond of going out on random dates with strangers and I tend to only be interested in women that I can see myself in a relationship.

So yeah, I'm just casually playing the field and only take it to the next level when I've meet someone that I'm attracted to.

that's up to the individual. i don't think there is a universal answer to this question that works for everyone. some people don't like living with others and some people (like me) need to live with someone.

I love being in a relationship! It's quite literally the best thing that's happened to me. Before I started going out with the boyfriend, I was very sad and lonely. Hell, he's pretty much the first person to treat me as a fellow person, not to mention he cares about what I think and say.

Love love love love love love love! *gives Mr. Boyfriend massive bear hug of inescapable love*

(Mr. Boyfriend would like to point out that he also spells things for me.)

I loathe being single. It's incredibly lonely and unfulfilling. I don't care what freedoms or whatever I'd "lose," I feel like I'm missing half of myself.

Relationships are fine so long as they don't go past the 3 month mark.
That's when I start hating people.

I would say single myself as the majority of the relationships I've seen always just ended and neither party is happy because of that. It just seems short sighted in my view. Why put that much effort into managing a relationship if it's just going to end in tragedy anyways?

Its better to be single, BUT in a relationship at the same time...

Its better to be single if you cant get a partner

Its better to be in a relationship if you can get a partner

Its better to be in a relationship if you come in direct contact with other living beings

im confused, was this a retorical question?
.... was this a topic to give advice to?
.... was this a topic to answer personally?

As long as you have a partner that respect that you sometimes need your space you get the best of both worlds.

Maybe you haven't found the girl for you then. Sometimes, it's better to be single for you to have time for yourself and friends. But, not all the time, it is a best option. Having a relationship as well as having a girlfriend is special and romantic. You can't be alone all the time. At times, having a girlfriend would mean there is someone always there for you specially in times of problems. Someone who will comfort you, makes you smile and happy.

single = privacy and you can do what you want, whenever you want

relationship = sex (probably) and somebody to be there for you

Single. can do what you want when you want and there's no one around to stop me... well maybe the cops. I'm also not exaclty the nicest person or the easiest to get along with so that doesn't help getting girlfriends anyway. I've had 2 girlfriends and both of them have cheated on me with friends. Then when i got pissy about it i lost half of my friends, im running out of friends so i will stay single for a long time.

Also most friends and acquaintances' i've met have this i need to be in a relationship mentality that i don't think can be healthy. Infact i think its kind of sad, though they probably think the same about me being single all the time.
