Great band or Greatest band?

Currently listening to one of the new tracks off their CD that comes out on the 27th and just wanted to know how many people on the escapist listen to them? If this CD is anything like Colors I will be in heaven.

Never heard of them, so I can't answer the first part of your question.
But regarding the second part, no, that place is reserved for Blue Öyster Cult.

Never heard of them. What kind of music do they make?

Anyway, I'll have to hedge my bets and say 'great band'.

They are a progressive metal band from North Carolina that are simply revered on some music websites such as sputnikmusic.com. Their main influence if I am not mistaken is Queen. Their first 2 CD were more metal/hardcore based while their last CD Colors ventured very deeply into progessive. The CD was a 60 minute long song broken up into 8 tracks. While almost everyone that has heard of the band respects them for their music a lot of people don't like the singer because they are not used to his "hardcore" vocals.

This is one of the songs from their last CD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWNMMuQzm-A&feature=related

And the last song on the CD which doesn't fit into one video because its something like 14 min long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApNSnzQciTQ&feature=related

Eh, nein, don't like their kind of music, although i can get into a few of their songs. If we're talking about prog-deathcore hybrids and such the only bands i will go near are Black Dahlia Murder and August Burns Red.

Never really got into Black Dal because of the vocals but i can see how they are a really good band. I love ABR but they fall well into the metalcore tag.

Also, if you didn't know, Tommy Rogers (BTBAMs lead singer) does some of the vocals on August Burns Red's Indonesia.

Ah, sorry for my mistakes, not really a fan of the genre, more into traditional metal and other forms of metal except for death/metalcore, favorite sub-genre is probably melodic death metal, Dark Tranquility <3

From the two songs you showed me, I dislike them.
So, no, they are not the greatest band.

I haven't heard anything by them but I don't hear good things.

Thus, not the best band but they could very well be good.

They are one of my favorite bands. I love all the albums but colors took it to another level. I wouldn't say greatest band but they are up there. I was fortunate to see them twice and will be traveling 6 hours to see them again in November. They played colors in it's entirety live, there was not one pit or any pushing/shoving, we all just stood in amazement while they played, it was special.

Not a very productive addition. I have not listened to any of their covers and probably won't as covers really are not my thing. To label any band terrible is pretty dumb as it just might not be your kind of music.

Metalcore? They may have had metalcore elements when they started but those have all but vanished. They are definitely securely in the prog metal genre now. I would say the closet band they are similar to would be Dream Theater even though I don't really listen to DT.
