So I got Battlefield 3 (at a retail store because I will never pay £40 online for any pc game). After putting in the disk I was annoyed to find out that I am required to make an account to Origin just to install the damn thing. I had an email from GAME saying this was a possibility but turns out its mandatory (shamefull promotion EA, samefull...).

So I sign up and it still wont install. It was apparently "preparing" to install but after 30minutes nothing happens. By accident I find out that I needed to cancel the initial install and then cancel THAT Cancellation. Dunno if that happened to everyone else but it just added to my annoyance before I even played the game.

So I FINALLY get the game installed and when I click play it sends me to another webpage...I thought that was weird, maybe just another promotional thing by EA but NO it turns out that's actually my game menu!!! A freaking web page. "What happens if I have no internet?" I thought. "What happens if Firefox crashes?" (which is does all the time these days). But I try to stick it out and load my first ever multiplayer match. Guess what? I get disconnected by the server, time after time again. I click load server, I get the BF3 window but then everything crashes and suddenly I'm looking at the Firefox webpage again.

Okay now I would like to make clear that I didn't expect amazing servers within the first week, or more really. But come on, this is ridiculous. Plus the entire browser thing just makes it so inconveniant. If I leave a match for whatever reason, which is fairly regularly, I need to close the window, go to my browser and pick another server. I'm just trying to play a game here EA, I'm not doing my taxes!

Anyone else have some EA grievences? I heard console player also are required to make an Origin account but I didn't bother to look that one up.

On an added note: Hurry up Skyrim, I need some quality gaming soon.

I was never that excited about battlefield 3 even with all the hype.
I played the beta and wasn't that impressed.
Now I hear that you have to jump through all these hoops just to play the game and that once you get in, it doesn't always work anyway, so im definatly going to be ignoring this game.

If you want to play singleplayer offline, I'm pretty sure you could just save the webpage and use that to launch it.

However, I agree with you. It's stupid. You have to join a server to change your settings!

I love Battlefield but have no plans to buy BF3. There is only so much BS I can put up with, there are plenty of good games out there to play.

This is why I will never buy EA games for PC. Fucking Greedy ass holes. I fear that this is the future though, and I dread living in it as a gamer.

honestly this game is an experience. I have a dedicated harddrive just for orgin to play on, but if you have the right hardware this game is worth the effort. I hate ea with all my heart, but this is a good product.

The only pev I have with the game right now is that it doesn't support Windows xp, which makes me a sad panda because my big gaming machine only has xp, so i'm having to play it on my laptop. It works, and the game is a ton of fun, but it doesn't have all of the amazing textures and lighting and details that it normally would.

I would have gotten BF3, but I didn't, for 3 main reasons.

1. Origin was a hassle to set up for the beta. Also note, that this was on the PS3. My PC can't handle BF3.

2. They're missing features that were available in BF2, and I feel they're dumbing down Battlefield as a whole to attempt and "compete" with Call of Duty, when it isn't necessary. I personally believe the only reason they added Single player was because CoD has it as well. This can be determined by how short, and crappy it is. Bad Company's was more enjoyable.

3. I wasn't having fun. Everytime I'd try and get into a match, i'd have loading issues, or freeze ups. When I could get in, I'd find myself complain over small grievances, mainly glitches and graphical issues. Granted, it was the Beta. But if the Beta was supposed to help me get the game, it failed.

I know i'm nitpicking, but I have a right to my opinion.

Windows XP is 10 years old. It's time to upgrade.
