So, after deciding i just wont enjoy MW2 again (not that it was amazing in the first place)ive decided to trade it in and get Bad Company 2, so i as these questions:

Is there any advice you can give me for playing online?
How team based is the online play (would i need to find a group of people to play with)?
What is its longevity like?
Are there any multiplayer shooters i could look at as well?

Thanks in advance!

1. Stick with it, it takes quite a while to get the decent weapons because of the unlock system so you might find yourself dieing more than normal because the guy you were shooting at has a scope on his LMG with magnum bullets, of which he can use to snipe you from across the map.

2. It depends, I can easily run around the map on my own without relying much on the other classes to support me. If you're playing on your own, get used to it because you'll be matching up with groups full of Recon players who like to sit on cliffs next to your base and camp all game.

3. It takes a while to unlock everything for every class, and you rank up quite slowly, so it'll last you a while if you like unlocking everything. As for gameplay, it's fun but it grows tiresome quickly for me, but the same goes for every FPS.

4. Team Fortress 2, or Unreal Tournament.

Good job I refreshed, you ninja'd me with every single point I was going to make..but in better English xD

If I might add:
Don't expect buildings to be any cover whatsoever.
Due to readily available ammo, Engineers will pepper all buildings with RPGs and Snipers will drop a strike on any building that tingles their spider-sense.

Also, Medics tend to carry insta-death M60s.

having a group of people to pay with isn't necessary, but it's a lot more fun i find
the M60 is way overpowered in this game, but the developers have already acknowledged it and in the next patch it'll be fixed

EDIT: also, people are saying that the first guns are shite, this is untrue. Pretty much every gun is balanced making no gun particularly more adept at killing than any other. (Exceptions: M60, and the M1911 pistol. both of which have been tagged as overpowered by the online BC2 community)

The weapons you start with arent great so it takes a while to get some good weapons and specialisations. Also you will probably die an awful lot when you first start out, I know I did and it frustrated the hell out of me but I stuck with it and its nowhere near as hard as it was at first.

- you many want to run through the first few levels of the campaign to get a feel for BC2.
- as a new player, I would suggest that you follow your team mates (not just squadmates) around so that 1) you get a feel for the map, and 2) you get an idea of what you're supposed to do and how to do it (do this until you feel confident you're familiar with the game).
- unlike MW2, YOU WILL NOT PENALIZED FOR LEAVING A GAME. If you get put in a squad/game you don't like for any reason, leave. Pick your battles (literally; you can choose what mode and map you want when searching).

- BC2 is built to encourage team work. You can go solo, but it will be harder.
- When you a join game, you can join a squad of 4 players max. (3 squads make up one team) These are the only people you can chat with, so it's preferable to find a group of people you know.

Since there are four game modes (Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch) with about 8 maps that are customized for each mode, and since few matches ever play the same way, I'd say the longevity is at least above average.

Thank GOD they're fixing that. The M60 is a killer at pretty much every range, it's a joke.

That said, I found myself sticking with the very first gun in each class for quite a few ranks, especially recon. Found most guns since to be either ineffective or awkward to use. GOL next up though :D

"Spot" enemies with the communication key as often as possible.
Unless you're playing "H4RDC0R3" mode. Then, funnest thing to do is quit the game and find a way to DOS-attack the server.

Whatever you do, don't play hardcore mode. Not unless you like sitting in the same spot all round or dying a lot.

There's lots of explosives spam and too many snipers that are 1 hit kills.

In regular mode, you can still get 1 shotted depending on perks and range, but it's not as bad and people move around a lot more. The vehicles in regular mode become a pain in the ass though. They take more rockets to blow up than in hardcore. I usually just try to avoid them.

Needs infantry only option.

There's a reason they never mixed Doom and Mechwarrior. Vehicles and infantry battles aren't fun.

Start as either assault or medic.

With assault you should get easy kills with the GL and the medic has one of the better starting weapons, once you unlock the paddles you can rack up XP quite quickly. Unlocking the Seiga shotgun makes the engineer and recon classes a lot more playable until you unlock a decent SMG and get used to sniping. One of the best anti-armour tactics in the game is to use a shotty equipped Recon to plant C4 on an enemy tank, or booby trap a building.

Try using C4 on a quad bike then driving into an enemy tank.

Try using C4 on a UAV then flying it to an MTAC and detonating it.

As an engineer class, support your armour, use your rockets to help kill enemy armour, rep your friendly tank, and shoot enemy engineers.

Vehicle bonus's are stackable, If you have +vehicle damage and someone else gets in a tank with +vehicle armour you get both powerups. I dont think you get double damage though.

As recon with a sniper rifle, headshots gain a marksman XP bonus that can be significant.

Try counter-sniping with MG's in 3-round bursts, dont forget about bullet drop!

A door or fence blocking your path? Knife it!

Plant C4 at an unguarded Mtac before planting a bomb on it, detonate when the defenders try to disarm it.

Anti-tank mines tend to be more anti-everything.

mortar strikes attack a very small area.

Flank, out-maneuver and sneak. Some of my best kill streaks have come from hiding after loosing both MTACS then sneaking up behind squads (especially groups of snipers) and knifing the lot of them.

When attacking an enemy squad kill the medic first, a dead medic cant revive anyone and revived soldiers add there tags back into the pool.

If you play conquest you can pretty much do your own thing.

If you play the one were you have plant bombs then you might be in a little trouble.

I unlocked most things really quickly, I am level 20 odd and only have 2 or 3 things to be unlocked. It's about the same speed as MW2.

Assault class has unlimited ammo but if you come across a tank your screwed.

Engineer is more of an all rounder and quick as hell to level up (due to repairing tanks), take down men and tanks (although you will have to be sneaky with the infantry, there machine guns are a little weaker) and you don't have infinite ammo.

Medics never really need to reload due to the rarity of going kill streaks and they are the only ones who can heal, your health doesn't regenerate the screen only clears, so sit on a med pack till you hear a "pst" sound then your at full health again.

Recon spends alot of time camping unless you have that WW2 then you can run round to level, like I did alot, till I got the SVU and started to snipe, then unlocked the VSS which I use as a machine gun. Remember to throw motion mines, they add to your score if any body kills them in that radius and tell you (and every body on your team) were enemies are.

The most important thing about BC2, press select or back on enemies as much as possible! It will tell everybody on your team were that enemy is for a few seconds, same goes for tanks, choppers and UAV's.

Also try to avoid using UAV's they leave you as a sitting duck to be stabbed or shot.

since modern warfare 2 sucks now here are my words of wisdome:

-DONT play single player, it's abysmal
-Stick with your team memebers, I found that most team members stick with eachother, which is good.
-Sniping doesn't always work, don't hang out in the back and get nothing done and put your team at a disadvantage
-Strategize as you go.
-Make sure the area is clear before you respawn. You get spawn killed A LOT!!
-Morator spamming doesn't work.
-You can knife down doors, in case you didn't know all ready.
-Press X in midair to parachute.
-Remember all tips from Call of Duty loading screens, especially "if the enemy's in range, so are you"

Just another few little things, if the enemy likes to use the UAV station slap a C4 to it and wait for them to use it again then BOOM!.

I am pretty sure it takes 2 land mines to destroy a tank but 4 missiles, land mines also stick around after you die. Try placing them on steep hills leading away from the enemies base, so when a newly spawned tank drives away they won't see them and you get +100 for destroying a vehicle and +50 for killing one person (atleast) and it will come as a nice surprise to see this pop up at the bottom.

Not so nice for the victim though ...
