Im about half way through the single player in bad company 2 and i have noticed how the linear gameplay doesnt make use of the destructable inviroments. The first game was fun because you had a lot more freedom and the destable building ment you could raom around for ages without seeing a single enemy and still have fun. The collectables and gold meant that you were often rewarded for going off the beaten track. With 2 Dice seem to have given that up, im still enjoying it but i wont play it throu more than once.

Is it just me who wanted levels more like the old ones?

I liked the first game's single player better.

It just had this whole lighthearted fun tone that set it apart from other shooters. It was fun to be in and explore.

Now the second one is the same old russia invading the U.S. thing...

Yeah I preferred the first due to the over the top ridiculous humour and action. The second one has it's epic moments, but loses a lot of the motivation. I'm just playing the levels and i have no idea what's really going on cause i'm not interested.

OT: I liked the more free roam of the first but i think these levels work kinda just as well... except i glitched off the map in one of them and used it as a sniper vantage point... aaaaand just again on the next level.

I've never played the first one so in all respect I can't give a opinion compareing and contrasting the two. But what I will say is the BFBC2 single player had great graphics, and intresting mix of charachters; but the ending left me with a "That's it?" feeling. It was like I was expecting a more "climatic" battle or ending but I in no way say it was bad if anything this was very refershing from my usual Modern Warfare 2 routine.

Aslo the selfishness of the plot - really it was about getting as much gold as they could. Brilliant

And yes im annoyed by the Russia v America thing as well, how many shooters have to fall victim to it before developers realise people want different plots. Its like the new WW2 of plots.

the story is absolute bullshit in BC2 imo. I didnt have a good singleplayer experience. Multiplayer is fun but when i pay $60 i dont want half a fucking game.

I liked how in the first one, you could just spam the stim thingies and fight an entire army by yourself.

I haven't played the first Bad Company, but I picked up BC2 today and so far the campaign blows MW out of the water. Not only that, but the plot is actually easier to take seriously.

instead of a campaign, i would like to see a skirmish mode where i can play against bots.
whats the point of campaign anyways? it only lasts 5 hours compared to 100+ hours i will spend on multiplayer.

Its a nice gesture. I am glad it at least has a singleplayer. True you come to battlefield for the multiplayer but the singleplayer is a nice distraction. Plus the humor (is the second one still as funny?) is good and its just fun to kill bots and get some practice in.

I bought it for the campain, i will still play MP a lot but in the end i payed $50 for a 5 hour campain which doesnt make sense. :(

The humour is still there but not as much.

A skirmish with bots would be fun and being able to LAN would be nice.

The humor is still there, but it's darker, more intelligent, and less goofy than the first. Some of the conversations have caused me to actually laugh out loud instead of just grin.

OT: We'll see once I get to the end (I'm getting close), but I think both BC1 and 2 have their merits. BC1 was huge and awesome, but there could be long stretches where you were just running or driving and nothing else happened. BC2 is much more linear, but there's still a good bit of destruction options and the action is a lot faster and more thrilling.

I wish that the stories of the two actually connected somehow, as opposed to them being completely different and just keeping the same characters. The second game doesn't even fit in with the canon of the first. That's the only complaint I have though, they both were great
