and obviously CoD the biggest and most overated game of the year, I might have just thrown £50 quid into my fire
Yawn. You should know what you're getting from a CoD game by now.
QFT

CoD has been awful since after MW1. I'm lucky, I got Blops as a Christmas Present and sold it after a week. Got £35 too.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Mine would be New Vegas.

Black ops, I thought it'd be great, i r haz wrong :(

I mean, they promised that it was going to be the Cod that made up for all the previous mistakes. Instead, they added others.
Hands up who likes Second Chance, commando lunge for everyone, FUCKING RC CARS, lag and only one SMG worth using!

Along with the fact that you have yo buy everything. No point in getting headshots anymore.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, for taking all that was good about the first one, running it into the ground, making you repeat everything five times and still being TOO FUCKING SHORT.

Call of Duty: Black Ops, for being uninteresting, un-exciting and having nothing fun about the multiplayer. MW2 was so much better than this.

And finally: Saw II, Flesh & Blood. Because apparently the first game was received well enough to grant a sequel.

Mafia 2

..What? Do I need to explain?
Actually, I would like to know since I only played the demo on XBL, and the first 30 min through Onlive. I loved the first Mafia game, but didn't bother picking up the second game. This game has been popping up in many disappointing game threads, so I need to know why.

I've played the demo before getting the game too. I didn't think it was bad but then I got the full game and:
It was very very small, I completed the game in 2 days.
There was no real sandbox gameplay. The story was driven by missions, sure you could go wherever you wanted but there were no side-missions or really anything to do outside of the main missions.
The characters were terrible. They were like caricatures of wise guys we see in comedy films. No character development at all. I was so frustrated with the main character. There were no reasons why he constantly found himself in difficult situations other than being a complete idiot.
Repetitive gameplay with no innovative features.
Generally speaking Mafia 1 was a much better and more advanced game despite being almost a decade old.

Nthing Final Fantasy XIII.

Since WHEN is something linear where all the combat is pretty much done for you considered a ROLE PLAYING GAME?!? I thought RPGs were supposed to have some modicum of choice?
You anticipated a FF game based on the fact you like open ended RPGs with loads of freedom of choice? Small wonder it disappointed.

Of course, FF XIII wasn't great and would certainly be a candidate if it wasn't for the fact that it was pretty clear it wasn't going to be a godsend of a game about 6 months before it came out. Black Ops is the same - delivered exactly what I expected. Biggest disappointment, then? Absolutely have to be Civ V. Civ V isn't a patch on Civ IV right now, and I don't think it ever will be. I hope beyond anything it gets fixed, but I don't believe it will.

Not sure I can count Fable III as I knew, deep down, I was going to be disappointed before purchase. In a way you could say I knowingly purchased disappointment.

So for my biggest disappointment of last year, I'm going to go for... life. Screw 2010.

(Alternatively, Fallout: New Vegas)

As an off-topic counterpoint to all this misery, AC: Brotherhood was a delightful surprise considering my subterranean expectations.

They canceled it? For Tron? That's really disappointing.
I don't even like Pirates of the Caribbean, but I was super excited for it. >>

This gets my vote as well.

Crackdown 2. While fun, just isn't as good as it should have been. Some of the things I liked from the first game (handguns, boss gang members) are gone, and the hardest enemy in the game to kill doesn't even attack you and only shows up at beacons.

God of War 3

It was still a great game, but that ending... My God, that horribly convoluted piece of crap ending.

My biggest disappointment for 2010? Probably that it was yet another year spent in the wastelands of unemployment.

The rise of Facebook games, and Zynga in general, has crippled my faith in humanity.

FF XII was more open ended than this...and it wasn't suckage.

Fable III. Hopefully Molyneux will cancel his plans to continue the fable series forever and ever , and instead just re-release fable for the new consoles and be done with it.
