I'm saying Brink too. They tried to do a futuristic Left for Dead, but without the fun & tension of the two L4D Games.

Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime & L.A. Noire were disappointing too.

Im going to jump on the DA2 disappointment wagon. I was so pumped for that game, I watched the trailers, read the news, the whole deal. I even downloaded the demo just so I could get a look at it before release. Thank god I did, that 20 minutes of gameplay singlehandedly convinced me not to buy that game. The look and feel of that demo was so bad that despite already owning origins, I went back and bought the ulimate edition just so that I could play the expansion and the dlc. So yeah, pretty disappointed on that one.

One word: Brink. Splash Damage had the opportunity to create something wonderful. It had a solid concept but was broken beyond belief which ruined the entire game.
Ninja'd on the first post :-(

Probably LA Noire, it was a good concept, but it just didn't work in the way it was supposed to.

Games that disappointed me this year:

* Alice: Madness Returns - Lots of cool stuff in that game. Just a lot of problems, and a lot of potential gone to waste. Could have been so much better.

* From Dust - It was ok. Just waaayy to short, and to much like a tech demo. Ok, they've got the base stuff down. Now time to turn it into an epic Populous tribe vs. tribe god war thing. Also Ubisofts handling of the situation didn't help none on PC.

* Bodycount - Yeah, you could pretty much tell it was going to be god awful. But as the "spiritual successor" of Black I still had hope. That was crushed within the first level of the game. Do not, under any circumstances, ever buy or play this game. Ever.

* LA Noire - Much as I hate to say it, this game didn't offer much beyond the awesome face capture. I was over it by Vice, and had to force myself to play any further. It just lost the plot near the end and got so boring.

Games I was planning to play but changed my mind due to complaints:
Dragon Age 2, Brink and Call of Juarez 3 (i loved the previous ones). I did play Duke Nukem, but i knew that was going to be a steaming pile of shit, so i don't count that as a disappointment. Crysis 2 was also pretty meh but i wasn't expecting anything from it.

Even though those games dissappointed me, there's been a lot that didn't. Games like Bastion, Driver: San Fransico, Witcher 2, Terraria, Portal 2, Fear 3, and a few others i've forgotten but enjoyed at the time have made it a fairly decent year for me.

Dragon Age 2 beyond the shadow of a doubt. The only "awesome buttons" I want are the menu buttons from BG2 that made a weird clunk sound when you clicked them that I suppose was meant to sound like wood but always made me think of a pig snorting. Great characters, lousy story, lousy combat. Does anyone seriously have a problem with turn based combat hidden behind animations?

I really want to say this to.. but I knew going in it was gonna be a piece of crap.

In my noble tradition of playing anything that NIS puts out, I have to say Hyperdimension Neptunia. It was the spiritual sequel to Trinity Universe which was a cute, quirky JRPG that used a combat system I hadn't seen in over a decade. It was fun but needed some little tweaks to make it really good. I figured Neptunia would accomplish that. In actuality they stripped out all the good parts of TU and left in all the junk then pumped in a litany of horrible ideas and stripped away all the charm.
While I have never played Trinity Universe and I probably never will considering the most I've ever known about Disgaea comes from partly reading a friend's manga, I am thankful that someone actually said this. It had such great potential and Idea Factory just botched it for fanservice like most anime. Why does no one ever ask me to write these things?

Hunted, The Demon's Forge, Brink, Two Worlds 2, Dynasty Warriors 7. Just to name a few. Those were all huge let downs. DA2, should have been better than what it was. I never bothered with Duke Nukem, as that was an almost gaurenteed to be terrible.

Out of the games I have played this year? LA Noire. Sure, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I expected it to be or wanted it to be. The sandbox was meaningless and most of the gameplay features (looking for clues, interrogation) became stale very soon. And the story wasn't all that great either.

hhmmm Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 and Brink I think.

I was really dissapointed by Dragon Age 2 as a whole.
Crysis 2 because of the bugs and brink for being brink.

I Could not agree more...massive disappointment. Blizzard has always been one of my greats, but the no-offline thing, to me, is a massive stuff-up.

Well 2011 is not over yet and the biggest realeases are still to come. So it is a bit too early to say isn´t it?

My biggest dissapointment for now is Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

I think everyone's major disappointment was Duke Nukem Forever. The game was so poorly received by old time fans that had built it up for a good few years that it can be nothing but the biggest disappointment.

I haven't really been disappointed, though. I only got LA Noire this year, so far, and I was pretty pleased with it. The ending was shabby, but the rest of it I was happy with.

3DS... hands down...
Yet to prove it's worth... and somehow I don't think that will happen before 2013 if Nintendo isn't bankrupt by then because of two failed console starts
Nintendo bankrupt? ha...haha...hahahahahha. You do realise the Wii is still the strongest selling console right? you do realise that the 3DS, after the price drop granted, has been at the top of the charts for about 3 weeks now right? and if by "failed console starts" your including the WiiU. It isnt really fair to say that about a console that isnt even out yet is it? and besides, i know alot of people that are getting the WiiU. Nintendo wont be bankrupt by 2013. By that year, they will still have more money than microsoft and sony combined.

Dragon Age 2 was disappointing I agree, but not that disappointing, it was still a decent game for me.

Seriously, there were worse disappointments...like Brink.
Kind of...I still thought the difficulty of the bosses in Dragon Age 2 were far too easy. Especially compared to origins. A game that's that easy is instantly a disappointment for me.

Until this very moment? L.A. Noire. The beginning was good and interrogation mechanic was neat, but blank characters, open world and overall feeling of this game being a chore rather then a game has completely destroyed it for me.
