For all the bitching I hear about the Star Wars prequels what is the biggest problem for you?

For me it is the Jedi. Not the love thing (which is completely stupid) but to me they seemed very crap. The Force was this uber thing that was suppost to be the most powerfull thing in the universe and yet in the prequels Jedi drop like flys.

I have also seen many people say that The Clone Wars series makes General Grievous better because of that one fight where he kicks the crap out of some jedi, so I watched it and if anything it ruined them for me even more. They are suppost to be beyond non-force people.

So if I could do one thing to the prequels it would be to make the jedi more baddass. Palpatine orders the Army to kill the Jedi and they do so BUT the Jedi take a huge amount of the Army with them which gives the Rebel Alliance time to form due to the new Empires depleted strength as well as explaining why the first Death Star took so long to build.

Midichlorians.

By using that one word, Lucas managed to take the mystery surrounding the force and piss on it.

The Force was no longer "special" or "magical" it was friendly fething bacteria.

That and the forced "love" story.

And then the line...

"My powers have doubled since the last time we met"

Said by Anakin as he checked his Force'o'meter.

Obligatory They don't exist post.

Now moving on, my second biggest problem, as Rawne said was the Midichlorians shit.[footnote]The books in the expanded universe do bring the force back up to near godlike status, so I guess if reading's your thing, check some out. Outbound Flight, the Thrawn Trilogy, and all of the books in the Yuuzhan Vong story arc are pretty good.[/footnote] The Jedi getting shot to shit in all of five minutes was pretty poor too, but some of the films looked cool, such as the Battle for Geonosis in EPII or the Battle over Coruscant in EPIII.

My biggest problem:
Jarjar. Seriously. Just fuck that. Fuck that so hard it never exists. I hate Jarjar.

Two things for me. First is this:

Obi-Wan explained the Force perfectly in Episode IV, it had a mystery to it which worked fine even if simplistic.

My second issue was the emotional susceptibility of the Jedi. It really seemed that giving in to the Dark Side did not require much, just a stubbed toe or two. And ultimately, Anakin was poorly tricked in to joining the Dark Side.

He and Obi-Wan are like really close brothers but he immediately believes the Emperor when he says the Jedi seek to control the senate? Rather than find his friend and mentor to confirm this, he says "screw it, I'm going to kill the kids that I had no problem with 3 hours ago".

Does becoming Sith turn you immediately in to an asshole?

The writing. At times you wonder if Lucas actually bothered to check his plot points against what he'd established for the universe. My quintessential example for this is the major driving point of Episode III, Anakin's fear of Padme's death by childbirth. I could handle fear of death, but the method used there is simply insipid given what we know about the world. Actually, given the surrounding circumstances, it's pushing it for our world.

Seriously, let's look at the real world for a minute, which kinda make the idea a stretch for the characters in question[footnote]By the WHO's statistics, the main contributing factor to maternal death is lack of adequate healthcare, hence why 99% of those deaths occur in developing nations. It's not impossible for maternal death to occur in developed nations, but the risk is significantly lower. Compounding that, the highest risk group is pubescent (15 years of age when giving birth). The character in question is a high profile politician who was 27 years of age at the time...suffice to say she didn't exactly fall in the high risk categories[/footnote]. Mind you, she's a low risk category in our world. It's not impossible, but it is very unlikely, especially given her political status and apparent affluence, both of which could realistically be expected to reduce her risk further. But we aren't talking about our world. We're talking about a world with considerably more advanced technology, where people can be induced into a state of suspended animation, where high-profile people can be expected to have personal medical droids on call, and where they have a 'miracle fluid' called Bacta which could heal virtually any wound[footnote]And indeed, was used in the Empire Strikes Back to save Luke's life[/footnote].

And we're to believe that this universe hasn't mastered the art of the C-section? That their medical progress is a step behind our own? That they couldn't keep an eye on a prospective mother's pregnancy to minimize and counteract the complications? How is the idea of a senator dying in childbirth at all reasonable in this setting (to the characters or the audience), especially given the forewarning about potential complications? And the first reaction isn't to ensure that she has the best medical care available, but instead to seek a supernatural solution that nobody's even heard about? Honestly, I put that plot point about on-par with the 'twist' in Signs.

I'm pretty sure my biggest problem is the fact that people are still bitching about it. I mean, really? It's been 7 years. Everything that could be said has been said many times over. Even Highlander fans stopped bitching about Highlander 2 after a couple of years. Let it go!

The prequels had plenty of little things that made it unappealing to general audiences (Jar Jar, bad attempts at humor) and things that were even worse for fans (taking ALL mystery out of Boba Fetts' past, making the Emperor immediately get all wrinkled and creepy instead of just implying that he succumbed further and further to the dark side). So I don't think it was any major thing.

The main thing the sequels did though was make me realize something: Star Wars has never been THAT good(puts on fireproof armor, welding mask, and equips flame shield). I grew up with Star Wars, so it has a place in my heart, but the new movies made me realize that the story has always been pretty simple, the acting has never been good, and the characters are one-dimensional. The best thing Star Wars had was creativity and incredible visuals. To be fair, the prequels had a lot of that as well. They just failed to have the overall "charm" of the original movies.

I am suprised that it took this long for someone to say this. You realise bitching about people bitching is just as pointless right. I know I made this tread but I am well aware i am just a fanboy bitching and you know what. I do not care.

I dunno... all of it?
Particularly the second movie where Darth Vader frolicks in meadows.
And how Amidala just decides to up and die because without her man life has no point (because her babies can go screw themselves).
And Midichlorians.
Yeah, no, all of it.

EDIT: Also I liked this

To me it's the actings. I'm willing to overall some flaws but the actings in the three films were the worse offence Lucas did.

Another problem was the plots. Why the Trade Federation blockage Naboo and what was the whole politics crap going on throughout the films (I know it was to do with the rise of the Empire).

Hey, you asked what my biggest problem with the prequels was. Years and years of fanboy bitching has trumped any other issue I have with them. I know it's pointless to ***** about bitching, but that doesn't make it any less annoying.
