I can't keep track of how many times I've tabbed and pulled extra mobs/groups while in LotRO. Most of those times the group finds a way to stay alive though.

My most annoying deaths, though, were on my hunter. Fighting too close to the nearest respawn circle and not realizing it. Things got nasty, I used Desperate Flight (intended to instantly port to the 'safety' of the nearest respawn circle) just to have the mob follow me over and kill me.

Playing GTA 4 for the first time. I step out of Roman's apartment and I'm looking around. "Oh cool, a hot dog vendor across the street!" I go to cross the street and a car hits me and kills me. Not even 5 minutes of playing the game and already Niko is dead.

No matter what FPS I play, I always make the same mistake.

Throw grenade.
Grenade bounces of wall.
Grenade hits me.

Started attacking up a broken contraption of mine in Garry's Mod. Hit an explosive barrel which I had placed on it (don't ask why) which in turn exploded the 20-strong cache of nuclear warheads I had also placed inside the contraption (don't ask why).

Playing Halo 3 online.

I saw a Warthog sitting in front of one of the bases on Standoff so, being a terrible driver, i jump on the gun and call for my friend to drive. The 'hog starts moving so I figure he must have jumped in while I wasn't looking. It was an enemy. He drove me off a cliff. Jerk.

Playing Final Fantasy X. It was my first RPG, and I didn't really know what the fuck I was doing. As a result, I fled from most battles to advance the storyline. Until I couldn't get any farther because my characters all sucked. I did better the second time around.

I was playing Dawn of War 2 as Eldar, and having trouble countering Assault Marines. For those who don't know, the Assault Marines' favourite trick is to jetpack into the air and then land on your troops, damaging them and knocking them down. I read in a guide that one of the best ways was to set up a Shuriken Cannon, which has a limited field of fire but high damage and suppresses infantry, slowing them down a lot. You wait for the ASM to jump on it, because that's the main way to counter setup weapons, and then have your three nearby Guardian squads throw plasma grenades on the Shuriken Cannon while the ASM are in midair. You lose your Shurican, but the much more expensive ASM land on three grenades and don't have enough time to escape before they all get blown to pieces too.

I'm quite eager to try out this new strategy, so in my next game I find an Assault Marine squad, deploy the Shuriken Cannon, and have my Guardians throw plasma grenades. The only problem is that he hasn't jumped yet. Oops. A little bit over-eager there. I lose the Shuriken Cannon, he loses nothing and I feel very silly.

So, I make a perfect set-up, ready to annihilate the troublesome Assault Marines. I wait for them use their jump, then throw the grenades. The ASM land. On the Guardian squads. I kill my own heavy weapon and lose a bunch of Guardians to his Assault Marines before I can get back to base.

Needless to say, I'm finding alternative methods from now on.

Ah, good times with Enemy Territory.

One time, playing as Strogg's Oppressor (speciality of the class: ground control and massive targeted damage) I tried to cut off enemies from my retreating team. I was above the ground, so I thought that I would just throw a violator beacon (Violator is an orbital laser, cutting both machines and humans... and Stroggs) so enemies would stop or die.

Needless to say, I threw it too close. So instead of blocking enemies, I killed 7 teammates and forced them to respawn.

Well, they did retreat, no?

Way back in Dungeon Keeper, I once killed all my creatures with Indy Traps. They just... kept rolling around in my creatures' living area...
And I didn't notice it 'cause I was busy building somewhere else.

And in Supreme Commander, I needed some room in my base so instead of Reclaiming a few Tech 1 and 2 Generators I just Ctrl+K'ed them. The resulting chain reaction leveled my whole base.

I have this odd tendency to bomb myself...in ANY RTS, more often than not with the BIGGEST BOMB IN THE FUCKING GAME.

Not only this, but normally its my base, with very few enemy casualties.

I claim it's for "Shock Value."

It's got to be that time in C&C: Generals when I paradropped about 20 people on top of the enemy's command centre in the hopes that they could quickly capture it and make things easier for me. A truck came along and ran them all over before they could even shoot back.

I feel your pain. Once again in Generals, my massive army was on the way to destroying the enemy base. By this stage in the game I had no money left, so it was do or die. I decided to speed up the process by dropping a Fuel Air Bomb on my enemy's command centre, and by the time the bomb was dropped, my army had broken through to the command centre. My entire army was wiped out, but the enemy still had some surviving buildings, so they were able to rebuild. Since, like I said, I had no money, I couldn't build any more troops, so all I could do was watch as my base was very gradually destroyed.

Bad times.

i was the commander in a battlefield 2 game. and my team was trying to take the flag at the base after the hotel on strike at karkand, and it was overrun by mec guys. there were at least a dozen of them around the flat protecting it so i call in for an artillery strike to take em down. in the time between when i called for the strike and it actually occurs my team somehow manages to kill them all and they start taking the base. my artillery strike killed about 15 or so of my team mates. after that the mec team gets that and the hotel base back.
yh i was one of the 15 i think at least that happend to me :'( evryone mutinied the commander after that
