Save everyone else. Nuff' said.

opportunities to kill certain key characters along the way, just save them all, and rescue every little sister.

I got the good ending by saving all the girls, and I killed 2 of the NPC guys. However, there's a ??? trophy you may want...
If you save everyone you get the Saviour hidden trophy. I didn't get it and am quite frustrated that instead of playthrough 2 being for the evil ending, I need to save everyone again.

FYI, there are actually 6 endings, not just a simple good/bad. They all end in similar fashion, but basically your actions dictate what Elanor will do at the end based on her observances of you throughout the game.

She may or may not save Sophia, depending on whether you spared the key characters along the way. She also may forcefully take your consciousness after Delta dies at the end, or she may simply take his Adam so her can be with her (in a strange, genetically-spliced way) even in death. Wiki it: there are 6 total.

Just save all the Little Sisters and all three characters that you can kill, and you'll be good to go.

Not sure what happens to him. The only one you can save that will actually stay in contact with you is Grace: the rest just kind of fade out. Which is good, because I totally saved and fried that one guy that was responsible for all the crap that happened to you. Then I reloaded and went on without killing him. But hearing his voice again would have made me regret that. He was a douche.

There are 3 "save/kill this character" choices throughout the game. To get the "save" ending, you can kill 0-1 of them. The Savior achievement has different requirements.

Not killing him is the only way to get the best ending. And the Savior achievement. Though based on the post above me, you can kill one. Not sure why you'd want to, though, if you're going good.

The good ending is very meh, it is so happy and joyous it is a bit painful.
I would disagree, based on the fact that...

DELTA DIES. Sorry, but how painfully happy and joyous is that? It's a bittersweet ending, at best. As opposed to the bad ending, where it all happens the same way, but you aided in the creation of a madwoman. Which is in no way better.

Just save all the little sisters and NPCs. There are 6 endings depending on which NPCs you killed / saved.

Yes the content in the spoiler happens, but in terms of mood and atmosphere and the growth that your little sister goes through is very positive and sweet if that makes any sense.

That's definitely true, but to be honest I'd expect that. Personally when I get a good ending, I expect it to be... well, good. All that to say, I didn't find it to be "painful." If it didn't end on such good terms, I would actually be rather upset. It took all my strength not to kill that stupid guy who's name I can't remember... the second person you could save or kill, the guy that was responsible for most of the bad stuff that happened to Delta in the past. If I'm going to do something that tough, I want a really good ending. :p

I say painful (which is too strong a word), but I do like good endings. The bad ending is so bad and the good ending is so good and the 'middle endings' aren't very different from the two extremes that I had a hard time taking it seriously. To come out of a dark world into such a bright one in such a capacity took me out of the game a bit, the bad ending did the same thing to me (except we plunge way to deep into the darkness). It didn't feel very Bioshocky to me. Bioshock has a dark edge to it and I feel that could have been communicated better in this particular ending.
