Not to mention beautiful. But a tad to short for an ending cutscene.Well that's my opinion on the best ending anyway.

Not sure what happens to him. The only one you can save that will actually stay in contact with you is Grace: the rest just kind of fade out. Which is good, because I totally saved and fried that one guy that was responsible for all the crap that happened to you. Then I reloaded and went on without killing him. But hearing his voice again would have made me regret that. He was a douche.
so if i dont kill him its cool ill still get good ending?
Not killing him is the only way to get the best ending. And the Savior achievement. Though based on the post above me, you can kill one. Not sure why you'd want to, though, if you're going good.

I would disagree, based on the fact that...

DELTA DIES. Sorry, but how painfully happy and joyous is that? It's a bittersweet ending, at best. As opposed to the bad ending, where it all happens the same way, but you aided in the creation of a madwoman. Which is in no way better.
Yes the content in the spoiler happens, but in terms of mood and atmosphere and the growth that your little sister goes through is very positive and sweet if that makes any sense.
That's definitely true, but to be honest I'd expect that. Personally when I get a good ending, I expect it to be... well, good. All that to say, I didn't find it to be "painful." If it didn't end on such good terms, I would actually be rather upset. It took all my strength not to kill that stupid guy who's name I can't remember... the second person you could save or kill, the guy that was responsible for most of the bad stuff that happened to Delta in the past. If I'm going to do something that tough, I want a really good ending. :p
I say painful (which is too strong a word), but I do like good endings. The bad ending is so bad and the good ending is so good and the 'middle endings' aren't very different from the two extremes that I had a hard time taking it seriously. To come out of a dark world into such a bright one in such a capacity took me out of the game a bit, the bad ending did the same thing to me (except we plunge way to deep into the darkness). It didn't feel very Bioshocky to me. Bioshock has a dark edge to it and I feel that could have been communicated better in this particular ending.
I guess I understand that, in a way, but I think it's actually better this way (not to mention the fact that the good Bioshock 1 ending was similarly good, if not impacting and emotional). The reason for darkness in a story is that the darker it gets, the more it's appreciated when light is seen. Rapture is a dark, horrible place, and the contrast between it and the ending is what makes it so powerful. Darkness and edginess for their own sakes is a bad idea: darkness should be used to contrast and pronounce the light when it finally comes. Based on that principle of storytelling, I like the contrast you mentioned.

Alright, I just saw this on my second playthrough of Bioshock. If you track down the unstable teleport plasmid, it drags you into a creepy teleport sequence. Not really related to the ending, I know, but just something cool that people might not have found.

I loved the good ending.

Call it paternal instinct or something but seeing all the little sisters get saved just made me tear up and feel all warm inside.
