I think an eventual return to Rapture would be a marvelous thing - if they leave it alone for a long time first. Perhaps years from now, Bioshock Infinite will have been and gone, along with other sequels in the franchise taking place in underground metropolises, steampunk space stations, a gigantic, ancient amusement park and a crossover with Silent Hill.
The PS4 and XBOX3 will have been sitting next to our TVs for a many comfortable years, bringing us such classics as Final Fantasy XVII and Resident Evil 8. Then one day, we'll pick up a copy of Guitar Hero: Hits of the 1930s and all sixteen peripherals to play it with, and the songs will jog our memories of edging slowly around art deco corridors, searching for a Power to the People station. We'll all look back on Rapture fondly, wondering about how many other stories it had to tell and how many mysteries were left unsolved, and then it'll come - the announcment of the return to Rapture, so many years after we last escaped - and we will rejoice at the opportunity to crawl through those hellish hallways once more.
