Great news, although I wish they could somehow omit Bioshock 2 from cannon. It's the Godfather 3 of the Bioshock series.
It'd be way better if they skipped Infinite.
I couldn't disagree more. I loved Infinite. It was an amazing adventure to partake in.
My friend, Bioshock infinite make first bioshock feel like system shock 2. bioshock infinite is more of straight forward game than first bioshock and having the worst shooting mechanic ever.
I'm sorry B Cell, our tastes in games and how we see them are so vastly different that I'm not even going to bother getting into this one with you. Especially since your idea of exchanging ideas via conversation consists of hurling blanket absolutes like bricks with zero consideration to the merits of what the other person contributes lol.

While I think it's reductive to merely regard Elizabeth as some "Disney Princess", what I really find baffling are critiques against Infinite's game play. I absolutely loved the guns. All of them. They have a satisfying "snap" and they gel perfectly with the Vigors. Not to mention how invigorating that skyline is to use. If I had a critique it would be that there should have been more of those.

I also can't identify with the whole "start and stop" critique. I've seen it aimed at several games I love including Infinite and Max Payne 3. I've always seen it as a shift in gears as opposed to being a "stop" to the experience. The storytelling and character development plays just as important a role as game play dynamism in those games, especially when I find the story and characters so compelling. In fact, I love the storytelling sequences in Max Payne 3 so much that I've never skipped them and I've gone through the game several times.

There are plenty of games whose game play balance has little emphasis on story and are big on the dynamism. Why not just play those instead of criticizing games with more story in the balance of their design simply for having it?
What was the last good arena shooter you've played then?
And I actually did like the disney princess part.
When I'm in the mood for them kinda hijinks, my go to game is either Hard Reset or Painkiller. I've played the latter so much and so long that it's literally the only game I still play via disk hahahaha.

I own all three titles on the PS3 and have thus enjoyed each entry, so I'm not too anxious to get this at launch.

I'm sure that there are some people who have not played any installment of the Bioshock series, so re-releases like these are more suited for them.

I respect your opinion. i couldnot play bioshock infinite more than one hour the shooting turn me off and elizabath is annoying side kick.

Another one huh, what's up next? Mass Effect trilogy ports or remasters? I have these already, but I didn't like them enough to double dip here.

On Bioshock 2, it's such a shame to see it frequently glossed over as some sort of weakest link. Whether it was simply just doomed from preconception, or its higher degree of subtlety caused most people to miss what it was all about, but Bioshock 2 was not only really smart in its execution, but its notions of community, collectivism and altruism was probably braver and more interesting than what was offered in the games that came before and after it. (it played better than B1 too, which to be fair, will always be more important). At the very least, it is on par, and it easily deserves to stand with the others on the collection.

Black-Cell likes very manly characters, your presumption is correct. I personally really liked Elizabeth, but then I really like Moe characters so I'm not surprised.

One part about Infinite I didn't like was
how obvious the relationship between Booker and Elizabeth was. There was zero sexual tension between the characters which resulted in early suspicion that he was her relative.

Also, I've already played all the games multiple times. But hopefully this collection revives some of the multiplayer in 2. It was actually quite fun.

There was no "higher degree of subtlety". It was the lack of it that turned me off. How was it's execution smart and how were the notions of collectivism and altruism braver than the approaches and themes in the first Bioshock?

It sound's like you're in touch with something that I completely missed. I'm genuinely curious here because I have a pretty good eye for subtlety and storytelling. If I missed something, I'd be more than happy to go through the game again to catch these things. As it stands, gameplay aside, Bioshock 2 is a dud to me.

Oh, so it is real.
Well, I own the first one on Steam and Infinite on my 360, but screw it, whether it's a collection or update, I love the series enough to pick this up anyway.

If they're releasing this on PC as well, that's gotta mean it's some sort of a ''redux'' version, right? Why else would they bother?

The boxart reminded me of this pic from DeviantArt I found one day after beating Infinite -
There is always a lighthouse
There is always a man
There is always a city

Now,I preferred the original Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite over Bioshock 2 in terms of gameplay and narrative. Bioshock 2 would have been better served as a lengthy DLC of the original game as created by the same developers. As presented, it represents the setting in the same way that a modder with a UE3 dev kit might crank out a shooter in the same setting - it just felt unpolished to me and the shifts in gameplay mechanics for different sections too arbitrary. I get the story that the used became the user and your character is following in their wake, but it seemed too much like playing a big daddy just for the sake of playing a big daddy, like unlocking Goro for the first time in MK and him not playing at all what a giant mass of destruction should play, artificial limitations and all.

Great points man. There's so much off about Bioshock 2 that I often forget about the wasted potential of you being a Big Daddy. Fallout 4's power armor comes to mind when I think of interesting directions they could have taken it gameplay-wise. From movement, to jump speed/weight, to the design of the hud, right on down to the feel and utility of the Pain Train perk, all of it feels like you're in a big, hulking death machine, essentially what a Big Daddy is. As it stands, in Bioshock 2you feel like you're just some dude with big guns messing stuff up (essentially your ue modder with a devkit analogy). They even dropped the ball by having you be the "only" big daddy that can use plasmids *eyeroll* instead of developing gameplay mechanics that reflect the the near unstoppable hulking mass that you're supposed to be. This oversight is consistent with the rest of the design flaws in both narrative, theme, and art design. Ugh.
