Hey guys, I've just started playing Mass Effect as an adept and I'm not sure which biotic abilities I should get, so I'm asking for advice - what do I need, and why?
Also, what would you have in real life? I'm thinking lift, just for the laughs.

PS: I'd be surprised if this thread doesn't already exist, but I can't find one on the subject.
PPS: Please don't start any versus stuff; I want to know what's good, not what isn't.

By the middle of the game, lift will function as a massive aoe lockdown that works on EVERYTHING (including the last boss). It has huge duration and, after investing some points, massive aoe. Buy it now. Because of that, you can probably ditch singularity, which imo, is just an inferior lift.

Of the biotics, I think singularity would be the coolest to have irl.

Barrier is very handy to avoid dying, I found.

Although it would be of fairly limited potential in real life, not being able to protect against anything except bullets.

I'd take Stasis instead. Completely stopping people in their tracks would be excellent in so many different situations.

Yeah, I've been ambushed a fair few times already and it saved my life. Bit boring though, and fairly short-lived - should I upgrade it for a slightly longer effect?

I've found that of the biotic powers, Warp and Throw are by far the most practical and Useful. High-level warp does great damage, and Throw is the most effective way that I've found of dealing with Husks, especially if it's leveled to affect multiple targets. Singularity has its uses, especially for dealing with enemies that like to charge at you, but you realy only need to dump a couple points into it.
