Heh, he wrote about us in his blog. He's very butthurt.
http://xkingxzeel.blogspot.com/2012/02/why-i-cant-take-fanboys-seriously.html

But now, staying on topic... more or less.
Last night an RL friend of mine got very worked up about this DLC. He was also very drunk, so, I think that he was talking straight out of his ass, like he tends to do when he's drunk.
But, anyway. He was yammering something about MLG, specifically, how because of this DLC, ME3 multiplayer won't be allowed in the MLG roster.
Right, I don't believe a word out of his drunken mouth, but could please someone explain to me what he was he getting so worked up over? Because it was all very confusing.

So it looks like Zeel only got a 14 day suspension. Only 14 days mods? Really?
Don't worry, he'll be back in time to tell us how bad ME3 is, and how stupid we all are.

He'll have one more dance before the permaban.

SO MAD AT ZEEL!

Lol Zeel is stupid and won't be back and no one agrees with him.

This is my favorite 36-page thread.

Just to make sure I don't get shit for low content, I'd like to add that I love the Mass Effect series and I bought the collector's edition back when it was available because I love the series. If any other franchise had day 1 DLC available only to CE buyers, regardless of it being shifty or not, I probably wouldn't care because if I wanted it badly enough, I would have gotten it.

Edit: HIS BLOG! This is the best thing ever.

I have no idea what he means by that, but the multiplayer has nothing to do with the DLC.

Just as a point, those buying the CE aren't getting it 'for free'. They have to buy the game at a higher price and get extra content in exchange for said higher price...
So why is that so unfair?

I'm a little ticked off because the suppiles ran out, but I can just get it on Live if I want it so badly. I can understand getting ticked off at having to shell out money for things like multi-player or alike, but this DLC is optional. Also, no matter what route you take, you have to pay for it anyway.

I know that, you know that, it was all very entertaining, almost Zeel-level, really.
I was just trying to make sure, and maybe make SOME sense out of it.
He was all, "This DLC gives people unfair advantage in MP!"
And then, I was like, "Dude, this doesn't affect MP."
But he was insisting, "Yes it does it totally does, and MLG said so, OMG!"

Really, I found NO mention of this thing anywhere, but then again, I wasn't looking too hard, deciding to ask you guys instead, because you are better informed.

I therefore assume he was just spouting his drunken nonsense in an attempt to troll me.

I'd almost argue those who got the CE are getting it for free. We agreed to pay $10 for the crap in the package back in December or November or something, and Bioware was like, "Oh, here's some more stuff for you guys." I'm pretty sure the CE sold out months ago, before anyone knew there was free DLC attached to it. Gamers who buy the DLC separately get the same treatment as CE buyers except they're all out of N7 patches and whatnot. It seems pretty fair to me.

Even if it did, who cares? This isn't competitive multiplayer, it's co-op, wouldn't you want the people you play with to be as powerful as possible? That way you can actually clear the stages?
Oh, I agree.

Like I said. I just asked for the information, that is all. I meant nothing wrong by it...

This thread has a ridiculous amount of posts, so naturally I had to add to it.

DLC's, in my opinion, are the biggest-fucking money-sucking scams the industry has ever pulled.

Want to develop more content for your game? LEAVE IT IN DEVELOPMENT LONGER, YOU MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS.

Oh wait there is that multiplayer stuff that comes with the figurines...that unlocks stuff that you can purchase in game...so yeah if you want to shill out 40$ to unlock a single gun early on I guess that counts...but like someone else said it's co-op, who cares.

I've seen some of the pre-order stuff offer weapons for multiplayer. Most notably I think it was the the figures they were selling that offer some random multiplayer stuff.

Also: I didn't mean to be accusatory or anything. I think were on the same side here :D
Ohh, I forgot about the action figures, you might be right. And yeah, definitely you get pre-order weapons in multi, I think I got that shotgun once.
This is exactly why I argued this DLC has no bearing whatsoever on multiplayer.
As a bonus, I can't imagine MLG would even consider a game that only had co-op as a multplayer mode.

Also: Yay, same side! :)

So we're all in agreement, my friend was indeed talking out of his ass :)

Thank you all for the info, most helpful.

Expanding upon the game in a non-essential, elective way to get more playing time out of a game for a price that is a fraction of the game is always a bad idea. People are stupid for wanting things like Shivering Isles, Claptrap Revolutions, Dragon Age: Awakening, and Lair of the Shadow Broker.
I see where you're going with this...

To me people are getting mad over something that isn't needed and not priced that high. I've seen worse prices, anyone remember the horse armour from Oblivion?

Yes that's probably a more infamous example, but in the point is that if it's not needed for a good game experience then I see no issue. Sure it would be nice to see no first day or CE DLC instead just having the artbooks and alike, but I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.

While the CE includes other things, like the artbook, Soundtrack and other cosmetic things in game. To be perfectly honest it would actually be cheaper for most fans to just buy the game then the DLC to get the exact same amount of game content.
I'm going to assume that the people who brought thr CE mainly wanted those other things. However I do understand the point, maybe they have overstuffed the CE but it IS a CE and I'd guess it's for the sake of selling more copies.

This thread has kind of a hostile setting, but I actually meant to agree with you.

The only thing CE users are getting extra are all of the shiny, pointless crap (we treasure), but we technically pay the same for the DLC. I dunno, I just don't feel like this is even worth arguing.

I don't get it. People are upset because the company is making extra stuff for a game and they have to pay extra for it. It's not like this stuff is locked on the disk or extremely important to the story. Why are people getting upset? If I go out and buy a bicycle, I know that getting spare wheels, better brakes, and a headlight system (not that I want that junk) is going to cost me some extra bucks. But they aren't essential. Why must people get upset about this?

Let's see... would you rather have all the games on earth come with the DLC already installed, but the pricetag adjusted to match the total price? The company is making an extra part of the game for those who want it and are willing to pay for it, and they are NOT giving it for free. In fact, seeing as it's BioWare doing this, I wouldnt take anything for free from them, even if they offered it.

It's extra stuff they are selling. Everyone who is getting mad at this, you're a) not helping the situation by acting like whiny twelve-year-olds, and b) by demanding that your wants be chatered to like spoiled brats, you are not helping the gaming industry. If any company loses its customer base, it'll just find a new one. So grow up and deal with this more maturely.

Point taken, I guess it's not for arugments sake, I just can't understand why people get worked up over this. Again if they were pulling this with the multiplayer I'd understand, it's a part of the game that many people are looking forward to. But something as minor as this...it goes right over my head.

Well it certainly worked, as the only way to get a copy of it now is digitally.

Also: and as someone who bought the CE, I can tell you I bought it, not just for the extra cosmetic stuff and the free DLC. I bought it because Bioware is my favorite developer, and Mass Effect is one of my favorite series. All that other stuff is just icing on an already delicious cake.
OT: Sorry for posting twice in a row.

True but that's part of my point, some buy it for both the goodies and the DLC. CE is meant to special in a way, limited or for those who really like the series and I can't really dislike Bioware for how it's set-up. I couldn't get it and will probably buy the DCL, since I've spent £7 on worse things.

To be perfectly honest it would probably get a lot less attention if they made everyone pay for the multiplayer instead. Which is sad because the multiplayer is a lot of fun.
True, that would be much worse...
I guess it's just that it's Bioware and EA doing it.

I know several people who are doing the exact same. So you're not alone in that :D.

I'm a big fan of having a big CE, it really rewards the long time fans of the series.
Yea, again I'd like to get CE...but I wasn't quick enough and have to go halves with a sibling who also wants it. That's what I get for sharing a console.
