Even if it doesn't reach 1 million, they'll still unlock them anyway. You can easily count on it.

I feel like they aren't going to have any trouble hitting that 1 million mark, especially if it counts all three platforms collectively, and those books really won't be the reason why. I personally just wan't to test out the gameplay (on both PC and console), though I'm getting it regardless, and pre-ordered it back in December. I just enjoy torturing myself, really.

Kind of tired of all these pissy little content additions.

What if I don't want to download the demo because I want to play all of the game completely new?
It just says you must play it and be logged on to the EA servers for it to count. You could just click "Start Demo" and then shut it off.
I'd also have to download something I don't want to play - it's two books, just include them in the game for goodness sake.
while i understand what your saying, i'm just looking at it from their side

it gets people to download the demo, hell hopefully try it.

those two books, well assuming here, will give some better background/origin info on whats going on, which you wont get till later on so its not like it would ruin it for you before playing the game.

so the demo is free, and it gives you incentive to download/play, which in turn also tells you if you will like the game based off the demo.

i get what your saying but at the same time i'm kind of with bioware on this one, it's a easy marketing trick that isn't costing you a dime.

Downloading and playing the demo, regardless of any potential spoilers. I put my faith in that BioWare weren't idiots when they picked out the parts of the game to be used as a demo.

It's BioWare, and a sequel to the massively successful Dragon Age. If they needed to stick an incentive on to a demo, it should have been on the first when they didn't expect it to sell so well.

Well ill bee downloading and playing the demo, and ive pre-ordered the game for the DLC and to have a definite copy in stores.
Also quick question- wasnt the DLC supposed to be "The exiled prince", not a sword and shield?

The Exiled Prince was included for the Signature Edition only and is day one DLC for everyone else, the Sword and Shield will probably turn out the be the Project $10 stuff. It's bullshit, and is the reason why I'm staying away until the Ultimate Edition rolls around.

I will be downloading the demo regardless, just to support that fact that it's an AAA title with a PC demo.

I hope you can buy it later on from PSN.

I've already pre-ordered for the PC, but I guess it could be interesting to test the console gameplay.

I suspect it has more to do with attracting people who are unfamiliar with the franchise/genre than convincing anybody. Hence, "tell all your friends!".

[sub]And it's still better than not releasing a PC demo at all. I'm looking at you, Epic[/sub].

The article says we have to play it while logged in to count. But Idon't wanna play the demo either lol.
True, but chances are you don't really have to play it more than actually launching it while logged in or something.
It shouldn't ruin anything, it's just the prologue part of the actual game, so it's the first thing you'd do when playing the game.
I figured as much, but I don't want to see that either. I know it won't contain major spoilers, but that wasn't my worry either. I haven't checked out any gameplay trailers and whatnot, so anything and everything would be potential spoilers for me.

You know, it would be statistically easier to meet this arbitrary download goal of theirs if they would oh say... release the demo now, since it's done already. I really do not understand the rational behind maintaining a release date for what is essentially advertising - presumably the goal behind it is to maximize exposure, no? One would imagine you would only get more mileage out of your advertising if you show it to people earlier, especially when there's this whole "social gaming" word of mouth "tell all your friends!" promotional aspect thrown into the mix.

I'm sure all this makes sense to some soulless marketing drone somewhere, but for me it reads like the playbook of a crazy person who hates money and doesn't want you to see the things that he clearly wants you to see. And now my brain hurts. In summation, it is bloody stupid that I have to wait another 5 days to download a demo they're only giving us a week to download a million times before this promise of extra swag evaporates, when everyone and their dog knows they are just sitting on the damn thing and it's ready right now. Grah!

Log in, load the demo and let it sit while you go shower. That's what I'll be doing...Hopefully it'll count. >.>

What ever happened to playing a demo to see if you like the game, if you are playing a demo to get extra content in the game it means that you were going to buy the game anyway, therefore pointless, infact counter productive, as those who would get the game might wait to not have anything spoilt, but the extra content encouraging them to play the demo might change their minds against getting the game thus losing sales. In short EPIC FAIL.

EDIT:
This is of course realising they will include the content if they hit that marker or not anyway.
I will be getting the demo as i want to play a demo, i dont care about a little bit of gold and xp.

Understandable, I tried to do that before people started talking to me about it and saying it wasn't spoilers cos it's on the Bioware page, so i've started looking at some stuff. Though I don't see how playing the first level of the game a few weeks early is a spoiler or anything.

Uh, it's a spoiler of the first level....? That's enough for me.
