Dumbed down for the consoles?...If I recall, ME1 came on the xbox first then on PC...Then again, I never understood the whole "dumbed down for consoles" argument.
I think it was released on both at the same time, but either way it makes "dumbed down for consoles" a pointless complaint about the changes in ME2.

The versions are a few months appart from each other...

Either way, "DDFC" is probably one of those "fingerpointing opinions" that can't be fully understood..

fucking pathetic how ME1 had 20 levels of the same gear in a universe with definitive weapon technology.

So, now I can outfit my weapons like a CoD player? Great. Don't suppose some of that depth will splash over in to the writing or the character classes eh, BioWare? I'm so bitter.

Do you know I just watched a ME3 trailer that had no dialogue in it at all? It was all combat and rock music and him stabbing guys with the holoknife. Don't call it an omnitool. an Omnitool is just that, a tool. A Swiss Army Knife isn't a weapon, a tricorder isn't a phaser, and an omnitool isn't a melee attack.

I realize there was no money in Space RPG, but did it have to do THIS?! Mechandize more, or give me more rip-off DLC. Anything but relentlessly turning my favourite franchise into another stupid thirdperson shooter.

I swear, the next romance arc is just going to be the sex mini game from God of War. The next plot is just going to be "Shoot the dudes, save the galaxy" and the next game-ending moral choice is going to just be "Be Retarded in Blue" or "Be an Asshole" in red. Fuck you Bioware, you were like family, and this is how you repay me.
My, someone is quite pessimistic. I personally have faith in Bioware that they will make a good game at the very least. In terms of Mass Effect they've almost never let me down.

I'd say the meaning of "meaningful" is stretched here. Choosing "explosive rounds" or "incendiary rounds" sounds as "meaningful" to me as choosing the armor color.

I didn't like how they handled the choices in MEII. The story was basically the same, no matter what you did in MEI. You killed the krogan? No problem, his "brother" will be sitting where he would be, and give you the same conversation options. And if you didn't kill him, he's not going to be able to join your team anyway, sorry.

You left the rachni queen live? All you get is a 2-lines conversation.

You killed/saved the council? It doesn't matter, they are irrelevant, you follow the Martin Sheen guy now.

Bah.

I felt conned. All my choices from MEI were completely irrelevant.

They should fix THAT. I don't care about explosive rounds.
Bioware did say multiple times that all the choices you have made will make a big impact in ME3.

OT: I kind of like where Bioware is going with this. While I love both games, I did kind of miss having more options in terms of weapons in the second game.

It's a much better concept than the upgrades that added 10% damage, then another 10% and then maybe another 10% and a small chance to do criticals and maybe a little bit extra headshot damage....

I like upgrades where you can instantly tell that they're having some effect.

I hated the Weapon System in ME1.

It was a nightmare and it didn't really "change" anything. They were all the same exact gun with slightly different stats and the customization wasn't that great. ME2 had good weapons but there was only two to choose from. Let's hope we've come to the point where the weapons are different and customizing them isn't just about swapping Rail Extension V for Rail Extension VI.

Really? I had 2,986,302 (exact number by loading save game) credits by the end-game. (of course there is the fact that I did every single side mission I could get my hands on, even going so as far as consluting a FAQ sheet to find more missions.)
How? I fairly sure there is a set limit within the game and its current DLC of around 1 million (plus a bit of extra here and there if you don't use medi-gel's or heavy weapons).

As long as Bioware can constrain their spreadsheet fetish, keep the mods down to a reasonable level (Unlike ME1) and actually make the system interesting and intuitive the all is well. Otherwise I think there's a bloody good reason they left weapon mods out of ME2.
I think the weapon system was done quite well in ME2, with each gun having its own clear advantages and disadvantages. It was however disappointing to see the different ammo types limited to a few classes.

Be a bit more sensetive, I have just started my troll training.Jees, people around here always want to run you in the mud. :]

You want to understand "dumbed down for consoles" - Dragon Age 2 and Crysis 2 fit that bill well.Just in resent year alot of good an promicing games have been consumed by the strife for larger audience. That's why i can always find praise for games like The Witcher - a game so unintuative that you need to be a rocket scienist to understand the f***n' interface.
I played Crysis 1 and 2 on PC, and Crysis 2 was better in every single way. Removing elements does not automatically make the game worse, especially when the only elements that were actually removed were, as I recall, the left/right leaning keys.

Also, allow me to run you into the mud even further (because that's the kind of dickhead I am) buy sayign you should invest in a dictionary.
Lol, and Crysis 2 was so boring compared to Crysis 1 (Imo)

I thought there was a lot of meaningful variety in the weapons in ME2 (once you had the downloadable weapons). I swapped my load out between missions almost without fail (e.g. Eclipse encounters - Mattock/Handcannon for mechs, Tempest for humaniod merc barriers/mech shields). That said, the heavy weapon system needed more finesse - I only found them useful *and* warranted in three situations - Blackstorm/Avalanch for husk rushes in the dead reaper, Arc projector for heavy mech et al encounters and the Cain for twin heavy mechs/end boss - I thought the rest of the heavies and usage in the vast majority of combat situation was only good for wasting ammo. Even on Insanity.

A big "fuck you" to people who insist customization is dying. Seriously, I'm tired of hearing that.

Yeah. I just beat my 3rd Mass Effect 2 playthrough in two weeks (as in, I've played 3 games within 14 days), and I'm fucking pumped for Mass Effect 3. Bioware is a master of narrative.

Lol, and removing the ten hours spent staring at foliage and replacing it with a plot and more tactical scenarios makes a game less boring. (IMO)
Maybe you didnt notice why I wrote a lol.

"buy sayign you should invest in a dictionary."

And Crysis 2 was pathetic considering you pretty much had only one way to get to the objective and its "very hard" was very easy. And the fact its had inferior graphic compared to crysis 1 didnt really help either. And the lack of graphic settings. (Imo).

There are 2 examples of Mass Effect weapon mods that I really thought changed the mechanics of effective weapon use: High-explosive and Snowblind rounds. Putting high-explosive rounds in my FemShep Infiltrator's pistol turned it from a high shot-volume sidearm to a veritable hand cannon that needed to be shot sparingly and rhythmically to prevent overheating. Only by using Marksman could you shoot it for sustained periods. Snowblind round in my mainShep's assault rifle made it fire like a semi-automatic, but you never needed to worry about overheating. If BioWare includes more upgrades like those, I will be very happy.

As long as there's not a finite amount of money like there was in ME2

"Wait, what? I've done ALL missions, ALL sidequests and ALL DLC and i STILL can't affored the only item left in any shop in the whole FREAKING GAME?"

Three of my characters can now not purchase the final shotgun upgrade because i had to spend my money on resource gathering. (Which i found quite cathartic actually.)
