As much as I want what I can get for Dragon Age 2, I still don't want to get involved in Facebook. Why oh why couldn't they have just done another flash game like they did with Dragon Age Journeys?

LISTEN STOP USING FACEBOOK GAMES TO GIVE US STUFF IN ACTUAL GAMES

Im sick of this its forcing people to use a horrible site just to get in game items. Make the game put out all over the net not just facebook its irritating how much we are forced to miss becouse we didnt go on some shitty site
Totally agree with you there.

I hate facebook with a passion. I don?t want to know who is going to bed now; what they ate for dinner or how excited they are about missy?s birthday.

Forcing us to use facebook to unlock game content is really pissing me off ? but with that said and done, I?ll be using it to unlock said items (and hating myself a little bit more with each key press).

The more of this crap they put out, the less inclined I am to buy the game. Why the Fuck would I want a game where I have to do a million other things in real life to get half the content? And of course they're still charging me full price.

Am I the only one who thinks the game (Dragon Age Legends) itself may be worth playing even without the Bonus Items? Because that's what I'm most likely going to do.

Isn't it more rewarding to earn your equipment ingame, instead of entering a code or something?

No way. I shelled out money for the pre-order since I was going to be getting it anyway but NOTHING will make me go back to the hell hole that is Facebook.
Wait, you paid for a pre-order? Why? Isn't pre-ordering essentially just putting your name down for a copy so you're guaranteed to get one?

Perhaps you need to check your definition of angst. Being angry that a game publisher insists we jump through various hoops in order to get the full game experience is not angsting, it is a legitimate concern. I don't have FB anymore, I don't want it back, but if I want these items to enhance my game experience I don't have a choice. The problem is that this is a growing trend - that in order to get the "full" game experience (look at the Stone Prisoner DLC from DA:O for example, or the two downloadable party members from ME2) we have to pay extra for content that, a few years ago, would have come with the game anyway.

I understand Project Ten Dollar. I don't like it, but right now I can understand why companies do it. My worry is that as DLC/items/bonuses become more spread out (like with this FB app, which requires playing a seperate game on a seperate system) more and more content will be hacked out of games to be earned by growing Farmville crops or playing iPhone games. Damn it, no; I paid £40 for a full game and I damn well expect a full game for my money!

oh i know, that was slight trolling on my part, but just before i say anything else, this was the response i LEAST expected to get (you were very composed, so good job!)

but i highly understand and get what you mean, and yes i agree with the project ten dollar part, i dont like it but i can understand them for doing it.

honestly i would blame EA more than bioware for this..bioware hardly ever used to do this before being bought out by them, so i would just hope the average person could understand that.

also another point i wanted to give out for some mental food to chew around, are we entirely sure bioware makes this facebook app? maybe its someone(or a group) of designers/programmers who had a deal with EA or are admirers of their work and bioware is just recognizing them and giving people a small incentive if they play that game too?

im not agreeing with it, but just saying there is probably more to it rather than just "MERRRR MORE PRE ORDER CONTENT TO UNLOCK!"

I am happy. It might be good. Echo Bazaar has turned into a decent game. Give me something else to do while chatting with friends. Just as long as they don't expect us to invest real money into it I am fine with it. Who knows it might be a decent game despite it's platform.

Well, me shouting and going "herp derp derp ur a stoopid" probably wasn't going to help the situation much :p

I'm not so much blaming them - from their perspective, it makes a certain amount of sense. Dragon Age on FB pushes the brand, and may even reach new customers, as well as presumably providing advertisement money from banners. However, for those gamers who are unwilling to fulfil the required tasks (such as myself) it kinda sucks. That demon-punching ring sounds pretty cool, for example, but not cool enough to start a new FB profile and play the game sufficiently to earn it. It starts small, and frankly this incident is barely worth complaining about, but what if one day the only way to get the Ultimate Weapon O' Serious Motherfuckery is to check into Foursquare, Digg a certain amount of things and plant 100 turnips on Farmville so you can unlock a certain quest? Slippery slope, and all that jazz.

Well, per the article the game is being made by EA 2D in collaboration with BioWare. The name implies that they're hardly a gang of indie types, more an arm of a corporate giant. That doesn't necessarily mean that their game will suck or that they are soulless automatons, just that the game is being made by EA.

I'm sure there is. Think of it in terms of other industries, though. If you go to a restaurant without booking a table beforehand, do they seat you but refuse to serve dessert because it was pre-order only? Would a car dealership sell you a car without tyres because you didn't spend enough time on their Facebook cyber-shop? A DVD that has to be bought new to feature the last ten minutes? Absurd examples, sure, but not that much stranger than removing finished game content until the player satisfies your specific demands.

Yeah, it is. I just meant that even though I apparently have enough faith in the game to pre-order a copy of the game ahead of knowing for sure whether or not the game will be good, I'm not going back to Facebook just to get extra content.

Actually in certain countries I think you have to pay.

Edit: I have the game, and the items aren't even that good. Also, equipping items seems to make less of a difference than it did in the first one.
