BioWare Unveils New Mass Effect 2 Character

I know it's a suicide mission, and obviously the less stable people are more likely to volunteer... however I do hope there's someone level-headed. Especially, at this point, Shepard. If the easy romance we saw, coupled with all the "this violent partner is perfect for our team of schitzoids, the guy who likes to stab people, and the commander who prattles on about 'ancient robots controlling our minds and trying to take over the world'" characters...
I'm just saying that by Mass Effect 3, I don't want Shepard living on a bench in a public park, wearing a tin foil hat and chasing away civilians with a squirrel impaled on the end of a stick.

Can we still have the last game's characters? I liked the Wrex and Garrus odd couple?
I'm certainly hoping so. Urdnot and Garrus were my favourites too; they weren't the baddest of the bad (although they were pretty bad) but they were interesting characters and great to interact with.

Finally someone with personality in the fluffy hugbox called Normandy.
She reminds me of Vasquez from "Aliens", and that's why she is SO in my team.

Wow. 0_o

So she's like Asajj Ventress on speed and Element Zero. Well, these new party members are nothing if not interesting.

Damn it, I just know I'm going to have the hardest time picking party members.

Liara's my Shepard's love interest, so I'd want her, and I managed to save Wrex in my game, so I'd want him too, but then again there's Grunt, and he looks kewl, and then there's Thane and that rumored Geth teammate...*sigh*

reminds me of HK-47...
*Gasps* Bite your tongue, HK-47 had personality, this woman's just a copy paste generic character.
Seriously, is it some kind of requirement that every fifth game with crazy powers in it has to have an experiment subject in it? And it's always the first subject, never the eleventh of twelfth or something, it seems to reason that with this kind of stuff, the first few experiments would die. I feel myself developing an intense animosity towards this woman, I hope I can kill her, or at least get her killed.

they're great additions.
The current roster is tame enough that you can send in first if you don't want a situation to blow up in your face and the the new aggressive one is great for back up. Or vice versa. Kaiden's back story sounded like he was the tamer experimental subject.

it seems MA2 is going to be everything people did in MA, effectively ruining the fun.
what I enjoyed about MA was taking charectors out of their comfort zone. (making Garrus shoot scaleon in the face, putting a gun in the hands of a researcher ect.)
If you let pyschos act like psychos it takes all the fun out. I might go Paragon this time just to watch 0 and grunt squirm
Um, it's Mass EFFECT, not Affect.

Aside from that, she seems alright I guess. Always wanted a psycho on my team.

Did you see her entire personality in that 3 minute trailer? No?

And i'm hoping they'll bring in a paragon character or two. But not too many, almost all characters in mass effect were paragon/neutral anyways, it needed a few crazy characters to even things out.

Nice to see Bioware are creating some well developed, intriguing characters OH WAIT.

1. Covered in tattoos.
2. Hyper violent.
3. Foul mouthed.

With a woman, one of those qualities makes them interesting, two of those qualities make them a bit unstable but interesting nonetheless. All three and they are just plain nuts and should be avoided.

Kat von D - interesting (1)
Aileen Wuornos - interesting (2)
I can' think of a famous woman that swears a lot... - interesting (3)

Amy Winehouse - interesting but unstable (1 + 3)

Subject Zero - err yeah, can I just not have her in my party please? (1 + 2 + 3)

Nice to see they have bleeping technology in the future as well. What a load of BLEEP.

DISREGARD THAT I SUCK COCKS.

Yeah, on second thoughts screw logic. Maybe the character could have been interesting and exciting, but the one I saw in that trailer certainly was not.

If Kat Von D started beating people up and swearing she would still be welcome in my party.

She looks like somebody out of the APB advert.
I dont think they will have street gangs in the future somehow.

I have no doubt that they're handy in a fight but not every Commander Shepard in the great, wide multiverse is going to want to resolve every dilemma he meets by shooting people in the face.
This has actually been brought up multiple times on the Bioware forums and the devs say that your crew will indeed consist of paragon type characters as well. They're just showing off the more shocking ones first I guess.

In my opinion Thane shouldn't really be lumped in with Grunt or this new squadmate. Sure he's an assassin but he definitely doesn't come across as crazy, nor does he seem like the guy who just kills because it's fun like Grunt and Zero do. He actually fits a paragon Shep pretty nicely I think.

The only confirmed squadmate from ME 1 that will also be a squadmate in ME 2 has been Tali so far. Nothing has been said about Garrus and Wrex has been confirmed to at least make a cameo appearance on the Krogan homeworld if he is alive in your game. No word if he's a possbile squadmate or not.

I suspect that most of her early background would be found in the Mass Effect: Ascension novel (since it's about a girl who was experimented on by Cerberus), I wonder if it'll be possible to bring the sweet but frightened little girl she was before back to the surface, or if she stays a ridiculously potent biotic psychotic killing machine like she was supposed to become.
I had thought about that too at first, but then I remembered that that girl was what 14 during Ascension? That means she's 16 when ME 2 starts and I seriously doubt Bioware's going to let people make their Shepards turn pedophile. So I dont think it's her.

"extremely violent" - Subject Zero.
"Irrationally violent" - Grunt.
"hyper-violent" - Thane.
What the hell is wrong with you, bioware?
Yeah, this sounds a bit ridiculous, scrapping original characters and making everyone a violent psychopath... it's the character that makes it interesting, not the psychoticness.

If there are 3 psychos in this there better be 20+ guys to join your squad.
Pause the video at 0:12. It looks like there are ten squadies.

My diplomatic, goody-goody Shepherd is going to be really, really lonely.

Especially when she has to kill her entire crew because they want to off a town. :/
