So, I'm turning 18 today, and what better thing to do then be on the Escapist?
I thought of just making a thread where you guys share your stories of best/worst Birthdays and birthday gifts.
I'll start!

Most of my birthdays are pretty average. I usually go to a hotel or something with some friends, we play in the pool, and generally have a good time.
But I'm guessing today's going to me my best B-day, because my girlfriend is coming over soon to give me a back rub (Yay!) and we're later going to the local casino for some buffet and $10 worth of gambling (granny slots, here I come!)

As for birthday gifts, I already got most of them. My grandma sent me $50 (for bills) and a singing Goat puppet that sings the tune of the musical I was in this year (it kind of brought a tear to my eye). My parents paid off the starter that needed to be replaced in my car ($120. LOVE YOU DAD!). And my girlfriend is getting me the Orange Box (WHOOO!)

Otherwise, my other B-day gifts have either been money or clothes, with the occasional game. I'm not one who really gets into birthdays.

Birthdays (of friends) I go are mostly the same, we got a nice group of close friends and every time it's someone's birthday everyone puts in around 5 euro and we buy / make a big, embarrassing and memorable present (you can do a lot with around 100 euro!). At the birthday we give it (duh), laugh our asses off about it, and then we'll get some crates of beer and the party can get started. Mostly it will end up in some people (in a very strange way, I am always one of these people) getting drunk, do some funny and embarrassing stuff and then we'll sleep our hangovers off and we all go home again.
Wouldn't want it to be any different.

Ehh, I'm gonna be seventeen in twelve days, but I generally don't like too much fuss being made on my birthday. My siblings, however, fucking love insane bashes.
For instance, my mum and sister saved up for months to rent out a club for afformentioned sisters eighteenth. She came home pissed out her head, and wouldn't stop telling us how excellent her night was.
The fact that she refused to give any exact details was... worrying, to say the least.

Happy birthday!
Best present I can remember was my 360 when I was fifteen, as for worst I don't really know.
For the past few years birthdays have depressed the heck out of me though.

Worst birthday, I turned 15, my only gift was a driver's manual, no cake no ice cream, nothing. 16 wasn't too much better, but then again I was on a motorcycle all day for a road trip.
Best, I wouldn't know, they all tend to be mediocre to poor.

In twelve days I'm going to be 19, and my parents have bought me a DS and my brother has bought me Guitar Hero to play on it. So that's probably best....

As for worst.... having a birthday party (I was about five) where you hit someone over the head with a stuffed toy isn't great. But not as bad as my 17th, when I arranged with a group of about six or seven friends to meet at the train station to go down to Oxford . . . and no one turned up. That was rubbish.

Happy Birthday! :]

Best Birthday: Went to the beach.

Worst Birthday: Shared a birthday with my nephew (he's Aug. 13, I'm Aug 19.) when he was turning 2. No one even said Happy Birthday to me; it was pretty much 4 hours of watching my nephew try to complete a three-piece puzzle.

My last one was a trip. Not bad by any means but different. Kind of was a best and worst.

So I'm sitting there, drinking and partying and my family decides it's time to open a present they've selected me. I agreed, sat down and had a shoe box thrown into my lap. It appeared to be Chuck Taylors, something I've been wearing since high school. Cool, I thought, since I really did need a new pair. Upon opening it, I realized it wasn't that but a bottle of Captain Morgan. This trend repeated itself throughout the other gifts.

While more alcohol is good, I'm beginning to think they see me as an alcoholic.

But dammit, that liquor isn't going to drink itself...

Happy Birthday As Well!
Worst: Gf moved away to Maine (I'm in california), and everyone forgot it was my birthday. It was a super lonely one.
Best: Chuck E. Cheese for the first time!! (We have a huge 3 story one near my house).

For my nineteenth birthday this year, I am going to Bamboozle [http://www.thebamboozle.com/bamboozle/home.php] with my best friend, his girlfriend, and my roommate. Oh yeah, and my girlfriend is flying up from Texas to see me for the first time. Best birthday ever? I think so.

Best and worst, I got a huge amount of awesome battletech supplements, Maps, rulebooks, paints and miniatures.

Only to find out a week later, after having absorbed myself in it, that there probably wasn't anybody in a 100 mile radius that had heard of it, let alone wants to play it.

;_;

Happy birthday! I hope it goes well.

I've never had an actually birthday party, outside of my parents and nearby relatives. Most of the good gifts I've gotten during Christmas, but one time I got close to $100 total on my birthday.

My entire family pitched in and bought me a custom bike. It was great.
My worst, a friend of mine decided to have a temper tantrum in my house and I had to deal with it, along with having lung problems and another friend finding out they were lactose intolerant due to an excess of ice cream. Not so great.

I was 14. I had a birthday party, and invited 40 people.
Two came.

Of course, I had a choice of being angry and bitter, or not. I mean, them not coming was a matter of me being under the pheripherie; I had few really close friends, but I didn't have anyone to hate me. And that's how its been for most of my life, all for the better.

as my birthday falls in the early summer, My mother had the habit of having gifts done when we first wake up, then abut noon a small group of friends would come for a semi-party...though when I was 9/10 the thought she was witty and break out the " double dare" stunt set and make up abunch of games.....which I hate childhood party games, always have.. then after we normally went to a movie ( as my B-Day see's alot of movie releases on the same date) then dinner...

That lasted until I was about 11, by then the Matriarch/ Matron mentality they drove into me kicked in and I pretty much made it clear that I didn't want anything special...a little gift here, a card there are fine...but in large my birthday I see as just another day by choice.

My best was my 15th because I could wave bye bye to virginity. My worst was probably two years ago, because I lost 1.5 fingers the day before.

My favorite birthday was probably when I was 8. I got Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for my brand spanking new Gameboy Color.
