Hey escapists, here I am again asking for your help. The thing is, my birthday is in two weeks (10th of August to be precise) and don't really know what I'm gonna ask.. I spent some time searching the web for games and came up with two so far:

Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery)
Officers

They both seem kinda cool but I'm wondering what you people think of it. Most importantly, is Anno 1404 really just building civilisations and no fighting? (And if it is, is it much like Caesar 3?)

Besides that, do you guys have any idea which games I could get as well? RTSes, (out of the ordinary) RPGs and FPSes really appeal to me. Ofcourse you can also tell stuff different from games :p
I have also been pondering to ask for a (legit) copy of Fallout 3 but it would probably be better to wait for the GOTY edition because it saves the money from DLCs..

So fellow escapees, help a poor kid out :)

Well, I suggest Call of Juarez: Bound in blood - it won't give you more than 9 hours of Campaign though.

Second suggestion, would be GTA IV . I have no idea though...

Out of the two ?
Officers would be quite nice.

I didnt like the look officers much, i dont know if its actually any good

Do you own Endwar or WIC? they are good, empire total war (if you have a good computer

Killing floor is quite good, once its tweaked its really good, Red orchestra, Left 4 dead, The secret of moneky island is something nice and different to the usual, these are all off steam that i know of.

I am holding out for OF2 in early october.

Call of Juarez didnt really appeal to me, I have played a bit of GTA IV and I didn't like that either =/

Have you by any chance played Officers?

Endwar and empire total war are good ideas indeed, I'll look into them :)

I have Killing Floor and Left 4 Dead though, same for Red orchestra (sadly D:). I dont think secret of monkey island would appeal to me though.

how about battlefield:1943? i thought i wouldnt like it but it is strangely addictive.

Maybe a MMORPG is more up your street?

Looked at Sacred 2? Relatively new RPG that sounds quite good, not played it though so cant really say how good it is.
