I'm sure most of you have probably heard of the birthday paradox (which isn't really a paradox) which states that within a group of 23 people, chances are greater than 50% that 2 of them will share the same birthday. Unintuitive but true.

In honor of my birthday, I've decided I want to test this out and see how long it takes us to get a pair of matching birthdays, so post your birthday and tell us if you see someone else who has the same one.

Please DON'T choose to post or avoid posting based on whether anyone has said your birthday already, I want to keep this experiment as unbiased as possible. For that reason I recommend posting your birthday first and then reading all the previous comments afterward.

There are 35 comments to a page, so according to math there's over an 80% chance we'll have two matching birthdays on the first page and over a 99.9% chance we'll have 2 matching birthdays by the end of page 2.

I'll start: August 7th

TLDR: What's your birthday?

Edit: Well this is turning out an abject failure. All I'm asking for is a date, it can be as little as 3 characters ie "8/7".

Edit 2: I didn't realize dates were formatted differently in other countries, my bad, so please type out the month. It's still pretty easy. It's also nice to see this is picking up steam. So far there have been no matches, but Twintix and Ten Foot Bunny are only 3 days apart.

24th of November.

If people did just put down numbers it could get confusing due to differences in date formatting. Americans don't use Day, Month, Year. If I saw the date "8/7" I'd think it was the 8th of July, not the 7th of August.

That can be interpreted as July 8th or August 7th, depending on what country you're in.

April 17th.
