Regardless, I would've just said go with 'birthday stuff' i.e. lasso a bunch of mates together, get pissed, piss about, sleep & repeat.

Seeing as my family group and close friend group are kind of seperate I usually do 2 different types of celabration. A nice dinner with the family with cake and whatnot, and an excuse for a night out with friends.

So there you have what I would do. Take what you will from that

Have a small get together at someone's place. Nothing big, just your family and/or your closest friends. Do some dinner and chilling. You could always get some pre-drinking down range if you are in the mood to head downtown later.

Yeah, when I turned 21, went to a really high-class steak house (wearing trenchcoats), talked about history, sci-fi and science the entire time (and in a really raucous manner, so we could piss off the other patrons without getting kicked out).

I suck at birthdays. Someone is school was having a birthday today actually, so a bunch of us got together to give him something special. We threatened to tell his girlfriend he cheated on her a few months ago. Soo, yeah, you could do that I guess? Like I said, I'm really sorry, but I'm really bad at these things.
