Bit of a problem with XCOM

I purchased the game on Steam and can't get it to launch.

I've checked the Steam forums and already done a number of things to try and fix the problem such as delete some folders and make sure nothing else is running that might disturb it. I've closed anti-virus software and can't seem to make it work.

Has anyone else had this problem?

My OS is windows 7.

Is your computer powerful enough run the game? try checking the system specs at the bottom of the store page if you have the right specs try deleting it and redownloading it again maybe something went wrong with the download

I'm running it on a laptop and should be able to run it fine.

I've thought about the download possibly missing something. If the problem persists then I'll do that. Seems like others are having a similar problem.

I also bought the game off Steam when it was on offer (because 75% offers are too good to pass up), and it's been working just fine for me so far (2-3 annoying bugs aside), though it did seem to download slower than normal.

Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache?

That's the first thing you should try for anything on Steam.

yep, just did that and still nothing. I'm reinstalling now.
