One of my favortie games series ever, although 2 was rush and could have easily been imporved, it was still fun.

But the shinning One was the first one, incredible creature AI ( I consider one of the best game AI's so far.) a great concept, and nice replayabilty, as you can do almost every thing differently next time around.

The third one, (To be startted in 2010 after another game according to Peter) I, and alot of fans are hoping to combine the best elements for both games to make a truly fantastic installment. ( bring back the original creature AI!)

But, what I want to know is how many people here at the escapist played it? Play it? And are waiting for the next one? And most importantly what you thought of it.

(Link got removed, PM if you want it, im assuming that ok.)

Played the first, had fun, but always ran out of resources when my little village became a small city. Oh and it crashes my piece of (insert 900,000+ insults/swear words and curses upon that **** of a machine) computer every 2-5 minutes so you can see how hard it was to really get into the game. If I ever get an updated/not shit PC I'll definitely give the later games a look.

Oh I did and it was a glorious time filled with childlike wonder, because I was 12. I have both and I was INFURIATED that he gave in to putting a bloody toolbar in the game, I mean come on, its the feature that made Black and White stand out, a god/sim game WITHOUT a toolbar, crazy.

I always picked the Ape? Why? Dunno.

Waiting for the next one to correct everything that went wrong in 2? Yes.

There are number of issues about 2 that rubbed me the wrong way, in 1 you're the most awesome thing in the peoples tiny little lives, and that makes the player 'feel' awesome. In 2 you're just sorta there, barely believed in by your people at all, aside a few minigamers and whomevers opposing leader is about to be crushed by you. It makes you feel highly redundant to the whole thing and makes you wonder exactly 'Why' you want to help these boring pissants build up and rule. The Aztecs seem to want it more anyway.

I'm glad another game has been announced since that weasel has injected itself into my childhood nostalgia brain area, and therefore I'm going to have to play it no matter what doubts I have in my mind telling me otherwise. But for that to happen. I want the toolbar GONE. I want the hilarious charm of Lethys telling me he's chucking wolves at my villages so nah nah in a voice like the Dalaks from Doctor Who. I'd like the Creature AI to remain trial and error, because thats what was good about it. Seeing it all laid out like easy to alter statistics on a toolbar is so boring it hurts.

There will be Black & White 3? Awesome! The original B&W was incredible, but there weren't enough solid gameplay elements, B&W 2 felt much more like a strategic game not only a pet simulator, but had some issues and was way too short. I hope B&W 3 will be just perfect.
Yep , peter told us about it in an interview, but first there will be a game of mystery.

I played the first one... until the 4th world I think. I don't think I really understood how the game worked because my creature would remain really small and never grow, I found the whole impress nearby nations so that you can progress across the map aspect a bit repetitive though.

I do remember downloading a patch on a second play through where it changed the 3 creatures that you could pick from to a horse, turtle and something else.

Oh wow.
A Black and White thread!

This games makes my top 5 ever easily.

With number 3 I want to see more interaction with the city folk. Not so much that it becomes annoying but I want to see bibles and new dances for the animals pop up.

Honestly I would be happy if it was the same as #1 with a graphics boost lol.
Just talking about it is making me jizz everywhere.

Only one I ever played was B&W2, I haven't beaten it yet...still on the Japanese island (main one, I believe).

If it's reasonably priced, not needing internet, and capable of running on my PC, I'll look into it...also, I want more creature selections.

I could never get past the level where your creature gets smaller every night. send me PM on how you win, please?

also I never really understood the black and white thing. I was always sorta gray, I try to be nice, I would be nice for the first few maps then I'd get tired of the little pissant villagers and just LIGHTNING the whole damn village

I played the first Black and White many times. Being good, being bad, throwing innocent people around the world... The second one was considerably less fun for me, I think I missed fighting other god creatures too much. In the second one you feel less than a supreme god and more like a army commander with the ability to call forth airstrikes of various elements from large towers.

Ah, yes, genius. The first one, that is. I have many issues with the second. For example, being bound to houses. It makes no sense.

[offtopic]Jursa, is that a scepter of Fading Suns in your avatar?[/offtopic]

I second more animal choices, giant hamster of death ftw!

Also I want a morality system that's not so....basic. That and for the love of god(hehe) add in a skirmish mode!

Not holding out much hope. I loved B&W but the second one was terrible. AI was better apparently, but for me the creatures just felt robotic. Everything was done though menus and pencetage bars. It felt like it had no soul.

Plus, the storyline was pretty terrible (B&W1 wasn't exactly genius story telling but at least it was a battle of the gods) and all in all it just felt sluggish and wrong.

To sum it up, pretty much all the problems I had with Fable 2. Lionhead havn't made a great game since Fable TLC and I'm not going to get all excited for this one.

EDIT: If I was to improve it I would say get back to basics first. Take the army aspect from B&W2 and improve on it. Also, bring back all the creatures from the first game, 5 creatures is really not enough. Bring back multiplayer as well, and set it in a different time. Don't go into the future again, go backwards or stay where you are. Bring back lots of other gods (prefered it when you where one of many) and also bring in some modding tools (created your own island would be sweet)

I was dissiapointed by B&W 2, although 1 was awesome. And I think if Lionhead didn't do this one it'd be better, Peter Molyneux pisses the hell outta me.

Play the first one. Skirmish mode, loads of custom maps floating about and loads of creatures, even more in creature isle. Also theres a creature changer tool on the net to change your creature, but not what it's learnt (remeber, diferent creature learn at different rates, and have different max strengths ect.)

Both Games are awesome. hours and hours of fun, especially when u play old testament stlye. Hopeing B&W 3 will somehow combine the best of the previous 2 games.
