Ballistic weaponry relies on the idea of transferring the maximum amount of energy into a moving body, then allowing it to transfer that energy into the target via collision. In models powered by chemical reactions, the energy is limited by the volume of fuel you have available, and so the energy-carrying body, or projectile, must be shaped so as to transfer the energy as effectively as possible.

On the other hand, when you have fusion chambers measured in cubic meters and are capable of accelerating your projectile to a minute, but still appreciably monstrous, fraction of the speed of light, you have less need of efficiency; your projectiles can be almost anything. A boulder, for example, would be perfectly adequate.

The boulder that hit the Erian frigate weighed roughly a third of a ton and, while travelling nowhere near lightspeed, it's impact velocity was tremendous, allowing it to punch straight through the ship and buckle it almost in half. It was not even mortally wounded; the ship had been killed outright, and fell straight out of the sky

The traction city ground towards the ship's carcass, and from it's bulk extended cranes and lifting arms, raising it into the air and moving the wreck into Amistad's bulk, there, machines under the AI's direct control began to dissect it slowly, starting at the nose and working slowly backwards. For now, the intelligence behind the city was focussed on the task of discovering the secrets of this new technology it had found...

As Grash and the team hurtled out of the sky he gritted his teeth, awaiting the contact. Then there was a tremendous boom as the box crashed into the ground, Grash was shaken up and down furiously as then box bounced across the earth.

There was a silence after that as the box and the surrounding wreckage stopped, everyone was groaning, although the most anyone had was bruises and scratches, after a while there was a loud metallic whirring noise as the box and the wreckage was lifted into the air and placed across the deck.

After Amistad had extracted a large chunk of the ships hull and was continuing to melt and shape it grash flipped a switch on the wall which opened the door on the side, as nimbly as possible he crept out of the door, he turned to the others and gestured for them to follow him. All of Amistads cameras and sensors were busy examining his find so they were able to slip past into a shadowy corner on the back of the deck where they wouldn't be found, he looked at the others and whispered
"Is everyone alright? we need to move fast, we'll split up to cover the points as fast as possible, Mira, TF-038, jason you're with me, we're going to head to the centre of amistad to plant some structural weakening charges and something to kill the main CPU, CJ, samaji, A3 and The Warden, you head to the fusion cells at the back of the ship one level down and plant some on the engines and fuel, we'll all meet back here after we're done, all clear?"

"We'd better not waste any time then." Jason said, letting his gauntlet change effortlessly into a great-sword which he then slipped onto his back. He slipped away from the others, but remained in the shadows. He wanted to scope out a little bit of the land before they started moving again.

A3 kept its weapon holstered and made the knife blade a little longer.
Stealth mode activated
"Jason, avoid open areas" A3 said while its lights flickered away.

"Trust me, I have no intention of going in open areas while we're here..." Jason said, turning ever so slightly so that he could look at A3. Jason continued sticking to the shadows and out of plain sight. He slipped silently back to the group after a few minutes, realizing that he really had no idea were he was going.

Grash crouched down and picked up the two crates of bombs, he handed one box to A3 and carried the own himself "Ok, lets head off, stay safe," he said to the group before leaving. Grash, Mira and TF-o38 hurried off, as they passed Jason he followed, they swept round the back of the deck and down into a access hatch.

It was dark in the tunnel and Grash could see little, Jason was leading Mira by the arm, keeping her close. Grash flicked down his visor and turned on his night-vision, then continued. After about 100 metres the tunnel came to a stop, a door was blocking their way, Grash knelt against it and stuck his knife straight through the thick bolt in the doors side, then shifted the door aside, they came out into a huge room, it looked similar to the room they had been in before with the elevator, but there was no elevator, only a series of large metal beams. Grash then gestured to the group to stop and stay silent then typed hurriedly onto a pad and passed it to TF-038, it read "Be quiet and start placing the bombs on the beams, you have to hold the grey button down for a couple seconds to attach them, then the red one to arm them,"

TF read the message and nodded silently before taking the bombs and activating his cloaking which adapted to the new items, he made his way around silently, placing the bombs as instructed and when he was done he reached for a small pad like object on his belt, an Erian captain gave it to him the night before after he volunteered to help train their newer recruits to fight advanced machines, a screen on the object came on, it was a dark one so as not to give away the users position, using an on-screen keyboard he typed in a message and then pointed the pad toward a flat surface near where grash was and hit a button, the pad projected the words "all set." onto the wall, it was faint but noticeable and the light from the pad was near non existent, after a few seconds he turned it off and started a silent perimeter sweep to make sure nothing was heading their way or watching.

"I'll scout ahead" Samaji said quietly, activating his cloaking device as he ran away from CJ, A3 and The Warden. He ran along the corridor, double checking everything was clear. The giant construct of Amistad was eerily quiet when the machine wasn't attempting to kill you.

He waited for a few seconds before deactivating his cloaking device, motioning for the others to come quickly.

"Any of you have any long range motion scanners?" He asked to the rest of the 4 man squad-his voice barely a whisper.

A3 nodded and brought out its knife a little farther.
"I have a motion sensor that can go for 30 yards. That good enough?" A3 asked, while flickering its lights.
A3 brought out its gun and brought the scope up to its eyes.
"I don't see much" A3 stated quietly, still flickering its lights.

"Well I could have D spy on Amistad's surveillance system but there is a slight chance that Amistad would detect him and of us."
The lonely quietness of the city began to feel unsettling.
"Can you do it D?"
"I could try sir but we should examine our other options."

Mira rubbed her arm once they all paused to wait for TF to deploy the charges. The relative quiet compared to their last experience here, still fresh in her mind, made waiting something she really did not want to be doing ... but with no current directions or person to follow, there wasn't much she could do but the same thing the rest of them were: keep still and quiet to avoid tripping some booby trap or the sensors of Amistad.

Grash took a few steps back as TF-08 finished planting the charges. He brought up his HUD and sent a silent message to the other group which read "All set over here, once you're done come back up to our spot,"

After a few moments grash turned back to their entry location, as he crept back he turned to Mira and whispered "Mira, take this disk, I need you to hold on to it, once we're regrouped I need you to wire it into one of Amistads access points, it's our way out of here," then handed her the larger disk of the four that had been given to the robotic team members.

Mira took the thing and held it close. It was too large to strap onto her person to keep both hands free - she would have preferred to do that, never knowing what mechs, security or otherwise, they'd run into around the next corner - so she clutched tightly under one arm and chewed worriedly on her lip.

The others weren't responding, and she was beginning to get antsy. It was becoming more and more difficult to be stealthy and quiet.

She whispered back to Grash, "Won't- isn't a direct linkup just going to draw attention? This whole place is just one huge network for him."

"Thats the idea, that thing is going to interfere with just about every piece of sensory equipment he's got, not to mention the virus', they won't harm him much, but they'll aid to the distraction, he won't be able to see or harm us much," he whispered back as the team began to walk through the tunnel towards the exit.
