So, by now we're all aware that PSN's going through some hiccups at the moment, and people are none too happy.
I myself have a slimline ps3, but I'm still paranoid about going online with it. I just today got hold of FFXIII and am dying to play it. Is anyone able to confirm 100% that no slimlines have been affected whatsoever?
And also, as a second part to my topic and to add a little bit of discussion hopefully, as well as doing my friend a solid...
Does anyone here know if there's been any news or updates regarding the repair of Playstation Network or even possibly an in depth explanation of what the problem is?
I heard it's to do with dates and times, but people have tried setting their clocks differently and nothing's changed,as well as all the PS3's went out at the same time.

What say you Escapists?

The problem is over sony fixed it.

It had something to do with the dates and the console revisions and the firmware updates they had going for a while. I tried my PS3 the day it was announced and it was effected, a day or two layer I checked again it worked.

I've playing on my slim for the past week and I can confirm there are no problems with it at all. In fact the past week has been the smoothest playing experience I ever had.

It seems the bright sparks up at sony towers forgot there was such a thing as a leap year and so a leap day, so for one day only it messed up ... expect the same problem in 4 years.

So play away, good sir.

In other words - PSN has become self aware. The end is nigh.

...

Oh fine! I don't own a console, so I have no clue.

Heard about that? Was that for the consoles online? Or every single console?

In other interesting news, my father recently decided he wanted to buy a PS-3 for himself to use to run Netflix and stuff upstairs. While shopping around for one, we found out that there is another PS-3 shortage apparently, and that Sony has apparently laid off a ton of people at one of their plants. I hadn't been following PS-3 news closely, but given the rash of network problems I can't help but wonder if there is some kind of odd connection since there seems to be a lot of wierd stuff going on with Sonyland.

Also unrelated I will admit that I am increasingly concerned about how this seems to largely be affecting early model, backwards compadible PS-3s. which Sony seems to treat as a gigantic mistake of some kind.

I think it was something with the last update they did, it conflicted with something and everything went to hell. Problem with the PS3 is they've revised it SO many times that I think it's catching up to them.

It had nothing to do with the updates, mine was never connected to the net before the problem and it still happened.

As I said that's what I "gathered" then it was just a bug they screwed up with initially. Either way the problem is passed.
