Americans: Who's going out Black Friday to nab some good game deals? Just occurred to me that this may be my lucky day to pick up extra 360 controllers while experiencing the mosh-pit-like quality of consumerism gone mad.

Non-Americans: Are you familiar with Black Friday? The Friday following Thanksgiving is a day when every store offers deep discounts at very early times in the morning, and shoppers will flood the streets like The Infected and prey on any and all stores woeful enough to open their doors and accept the deluge of money and violence. If you saw these people coming down your street, what would you do to them?

If you saw me coming, would you gimme 2 for 5 on these 360 controllers? Come on dude, fuck with me here, I need more controllers so my gran-mama don't have to sit out when it's time for Castle Crashers, I need this shit man! IM JONESIN' HAARRRD

A consumer rampage with zombie overtones (or maybe zombie rampage with consumerist overtones)? No, thankyouverymuch. If a wave of crazy shoppers rolled down my street for some arbitrary reason, i'd probably use teargas. Lots and lots of it.

[small]I don't like stampeding crowds. At all.[/small]

I usually just listen to "Black Friday Rule" by Flogging Molly.

and

I've always taken issue with it being called Black Friday.

Got it in one.

Was it last year or the year before when the crowd bust the doors at a mall and injured a bunch of the staff whilst killing one? Then... when the mall tried to close, because a bunch of their staff were hurt and one was... y'know... dead, the shoppers took it as an afront to their rights. I'd have been on the balcony with a rifle L4D style over that.

I dislike it, it's using greed to make people behave in very strange and disturbing ways.

If you want controllers, get 'em used. I've gotten four that way and they all work fine.

Personally, I'm getting a decent computer, one of four games, and a $20 copy of Lego Rock Band. I was thinking of doing the $70 Rock Band 2 bundle off Amazon, but I decided against it.

Didn't people die last year during the rush to the malls?

Still can't let anything get in the way of a good deal right?

does the ''black'' refer to the people killing each other over the best bargains?

I just hope people get rampled that day to death. If you are greedy enough to bum rush a store to get 5 dollars off on a mp3 playing dildo or whatever then you deserve any negative consequenses that follow.

An elderly WalMart Door greeter got trampled (killed) last year. This year they are not doing a outside lineup they are wheeling out a bunch of pallets before 5am and then cutting them open at 5. (This sounds like a worse idea.

Im going out (with my hands wraped in grip tape.) if only to tackle people and show them how it feels to get a bit of grip tape across the face. I don't even care if I get to any of the deals.

i thought it had something to do with christianity...(
I was told it had more to do with the fact that this was usually the day where stores could start going from being "in the red" (or in debt) to "in the black" (or making a profit) because of the Christmas shopping season.

Hell no! Have you seen how violent people get for shopping? That is the WORST time to get some shopping done.

Here in Canada, we just have Boxing Day. Essentially, the day after Christmas (Dec 26th) is massive sales. Usually a matter of like " 50" 1080p Samsungs, 500$ each, only 3 per store." and crazy stuff like that. But than there are also the big sales that are not limited quantities. A nice idea since if you don't get it for x-mas, you can pick it up real cheap. Except a bugger if you get too drunk on x-mas and can't wake up on time, haha. Lines start at like... midnight.. for opening at 6am. (yay to 6 hours in -40C(-40F) weather!)

Didn't a few people die during black friday in the states last year? I guess I totally underestimated the cheapness and self-centeredness of people... Honestly, if I was in that group and someone fell, I would not just step on them, I would try to help them up...
