So I just beat Blops 2 and I was surprised at how much choice there was in effecting the story, and how grey a lot of it was. Since there is no bar saying what is good and bad and it doesn't always give you an obvious choice (not saying what you can't do) makes it above a lot of other games which make most of the choices obvious and usually have a good and bad bar.

Thus because of that I didn't get the best ending (one could argue having a 'best' ending sort of ruins choice) because I failed to do some things but also because I picked some choices that I thought were good. Not that I got a 'bad' ending but not the best possible.

I wish games would do this more, while much different tone I was reminded of Spec Ops the Line where there are various choices not given to you straightforward.

Thoughts? Should more games do this?

I haven't played Blops 2 or Spec Ops yet though I'll probably get around to it.

While this sort of thing sounds great and when implemented well is awesome, I think games should first work on giving players more options, or at least more feasible options, they can take within the gameplay itself.

That was one of the interesting things is that some of the choices that were given weren't: Press A or B. Various choices were done without taking control away from the player and talling them to press 2 buttons.

This kind of thing is what Mass Effect, Infamous, and Dishonored fail to do. I think the Wither 2 had something similar. This sound be in all games that do player choice.

When it comes to this mechanic, be closer to COD or don't do it at all(the one time where this statement will ever be made without joking).

I made the right choice.

When I chose not to buy it.

But seriously, I love moral grey area in games. New Vegas and the big four factions were probably the best example I can think of.

Agreed, especially in regards to Dishonored. High five!

More choices & consequences in CoD than Mass Effect. That's great.
Yeah kind of ironic if you think about it. But maybe I am misuing the word.

Ohhhh wow man...

Thats like a nuke in a writen sentence form. That really hurt. Even thougt I couldt care less about Mass Effect.

Anyways this COD is honestly a bit dissapoing, I miss Modern Warfare style. Its just different, its less... something. Something is lacking. Its still a good game, but again, SOMETHING just feels off... Also, zombies just dont interest me, I have left 4 dead for that (another awesome game).

Someday they might be able to beat MW2 (The best COD so far IMO). Someday.

I haven't played through enough to notice any moral choices or maybe I have and just haven't noticed but I like how there are challenges that point you to extra information tidbits that add to the story. I thought that was a really nice touch. Also, strike force missions are fucking tough.
The choices are subtle so to speak. There choices aren't truly apparent till after you can't do any more strike missions and the ending. Also choices are so much moral, it's different much more grey since there is no clear bad or good choice and some choices you have to think outside the box outside of just following orders.

But also it doesn't go to a checklist also, like it won't be obvious where a choice may have effected. I was shocked when I found out how differently a scene could play out if I had made different choices. I would disclouse some of them but that would be spoiler.

Call of Duty and choice? In the same sentence? Without soesn't have in the middle? What?
Yup it's surprising but this CoD actually has choice in the story. Too bad many will probably gloss over it and ignore it just because it's CoD and nothing more.

There was one choice in the game that I was fairly upset that I DIDN'T get to make, and that was regarding a certain someone on the USS Obama. I wanted to put a bullet in said person's head, but no. However, I did read that if you had made different choices earlier, someone else does that for you, but that person wasn't with me because of my choices.

I loved the choice system in this game and how it actually changed how things end, but because of the multiple endings, the best one has a HUGE plot hole in it. Woods even says it himself, "Where have you been?" A good question indeed, one that I was expecting to be answered right away, but never got. I think Treyarch may have stumbled onto something truly great if they decide to stick with it. I'm just worried that other games may start copying them and not do it right.
