First point, yes I know PC is different.Li Mu said:The PC is a different kettle of fish entirely. Most PC gamers know (or should know) that the PC can be a ***** to develop for. There are so many hundreds, if not thousands of varieties of systems out there and the devs need to try and cater as best they can for as many as possible.Ildanach said:So when PC users blame devs for shitty ports, they must accept their platform sucks ass too?
That its hard as hell to develop for? And sucks development money?
So there is a double standard for consumer rights because of the platform?
Nice logic there.
Oh and anyone with half a brain would say the devs didn't work hard enough, to fix game breaking bugs.
PC gamers generally complain when the port doesn't take into account the fact that it is a PC. It's not uncommon to get a port which hasn't even attempted to cater for the standard Keyboard/Mouse combo. But PC Gamers are somewhat blessed with the fact that their platform allows them to fix a lot of problems themselves without needing to wait for the devs to sort things out.
In the majority of cases, when a game doesn't work on a PC it's because your PC is actually crap and is just not good enough to run the game.
But despite all these thousands of potential problems developing for the PC, on the whole, it still works. The hardware on the standard PC seems to cope well enough with games (which are often just Xbox ports)
Unfortunately for PS3 users, the PS3 seems fairly incapable of running a port. It needs heavy reworking to get the game running at an even half decent level.
Lets face it, the PS3 has serious hardware issues. I'll bring up the Silent Hill 2 HD port which was released last year. The water effects are actually BETTER on the PS2 version. Apparently the PS3 couldn't handle water effects as well as the PS2 did.
To be fair, Konami did a pretty poor job on both PS3 and Xbox HD releases, but yet again the PS3 suffered the most and yet again the blame was put on hardware which just was too hard to work with.
Now when you have dozens of major development teams all saying the EXACT SAME THING, surely it must twig that perhaps the PS3 really does have hardware issues and that perhaps it really is difficult to make a working game on that platform.
I know that for someone who has shelled out their hard earned cash on a PS3 it must be heartbreaking to be told that you're going to get a buggy game compared to other platforms, but that doesn't mean you should put your fingers in your ears and pretend that the problem is not with your console but is in fact caused by every developer in the world hating YOU.
But hey...at least you never bought a Wii.
And I agree on the whole.
But the thing is is that PC and Xbox have deep similarities in everything so ports generally work well enough.
Hence the blaming of the devs.
Also I don't know much on the subject of supposed hardware difficulties Ps3's have can you please link evidence?
I tried searching myself came up with nothing.
The people that think devs/world/terrorists hate them for their choice of platform are annoying and should get over themselves.
And was not what I was doing, I was asking why a choice of platform made a not fit for purpose product be "what you get" because of a specific platform?
We don't get a right to game breaking fixes that others should expect?
No even if the Ps3 hardware is shit this is bad and they shouldn't release their games on the system anyway!
I generally don't get western developed games for my Ps3 I import a lot of Japanese exclusives and they don't have these problems.
Hell I wish people stopped going multiplatform so much so that the one version we do get is quality!
And most of the game breaking ps3 versions I don't buy to be honest and there aren't that many of them.
The Wii has Fire Emblem. Japanese Fantasy Xcom only with squad members that actually have personality so I actually feel something for them when they die.
Yeah I had one, my sister took off with it TT_TT.
