For the last few years, I've been resistant to the Call of Duty franchise. I've played them, but never bothered going to a midnight launch or actually buying them. The only CoD I own is the first Black Ops, and then only because my friends bought me a copy just so they'd have someone extra to play Zombies with. I play as the German guy.

But after reading Gameinformer's article on Black Ops II...it looks like they're adding a lot to the franchise (actually being imaginative by making up guns and robot enemies, multiple endings, etc). It actually looks...

...good.

My entire anti-CoD existence is on the line here...

I'd wait until the finished product. Don't get me wrong, I love to see some innovation, but this is a company that is known for sticking to their tried and true formula. The multiple endings might work in theory, and the concept that failure IS a possibility seems intriguing, I don't know if Treyarch has the writing chops to pull it off. Once again, I'm in the same boat as you. When I read that article, I was thinking "we're talking about Call of Duty, right?" but I'd wait until we see how it works.

Call of Duty: Future Warfare?

If they put as much stuff in the PC version as Gearbox are saying they will for Borderlands 2, I might actually be interested this time. I don't normally like moving slowly in shooters (I played Scout too much at first in TF2) but the first Modern Warfare was good...

High hopes and low expectations.

Describe 'Staples'.

I actually liked the trailer. I know, it's odd hey?

I am still a bit confused about some of the comments though; people hated CoD because it was "always the same game", and now they completely change the setup they complain about it being too futuristic.

You can't win.

Well there's the thing - the changes are at least making ME happy. Not happy enough to pre-order but happy all the same.

The trailer didn't really draw me in at all (other than the obvious Deus Ex-y music at the start), but having just read a preview on GameArena, it actually sounds bloody interesting and very different from the typical CoD fair of the past few years. The squad Overwatch style stuff sounds especially interesting, and will hopefully fill out the SP campaign.

Will be keeping an eye on it.

I did a double take when I heard they were going for choice and multiple endings.

We're talking about Call of Duty here...right?

Making guns and robots up? Lol, robots?

Though, multiple endings? That sounds pretty cool actually.

Your face when Bioware fans become COD fans with Black Ops 2 because the choices, consequences and endings are all vastly different offering far more replay-ability than Mass Effect 3.

OMG! Let me romance that female pilot!

Same here. Since CoD 4 PC hasn't received any decent treatment. And they're using the same fuckin' engine every time. How hard would it be to make the game play like CoD 4 and have free dedicated servers like CoD 4? They would sell a lot more copies if they treated PC crowd right this time.

I did also mean stuff like not defaulting the FOV to 50 degrees, and allowing us to adjust it.

Edit: I shit you not - MW3 was fixed at 50. PC gamers everywhere complained of headaches while the reviewers played the console versions, where it wasn't an issue, and used exactly the same review for all three platforms.

Remember Mass Effect and the different flavor cupcakes? Yea I don't like multiple endings. Unless its like FO:NV where it just tells you the resolutions for each specific thing you've done, to me, that's the best way to provide closure.

I liked Black Ops. While this does look like Call of Duty: Ghost Recon Future Soldier, it might have potential. I say this very loosely of course. I'll buy it if it has a good horde mode when it drops to 20 bucks or so.

In this game there will be robots. So the Biodrones will want robot sex, obviously. And before you say anything about robot sexualization........

EDI.

wtf bioware.....wtf
