Hey Kotick, wonder how much more the Star Wars merchandise and DVD sales made than the CoD series. And let's not forget 3 of those movies came out in the 80s.

So, guess there will be more milking of this cow next year and the year after that...

Although total revenue is up on this point last year, apparently sales figures are down - the revenue is being bolstered by annual-pass sales. Also (apparently) these figures included Black Friday sales, while the previous year did not. So, this might be a little bit of spin on declining sales...

Why?

Why aren't people getting tired of this yet?

Hell, I like Call of Duty and I still can't fathom why each sequel sells more and more copies.

It boggles the fucking mind...
Does it? I think it's pretty standard and totally expected that a popular series that keeps the same formula while adding a few gimmicks will sell. If you add that the economy now it's more stable than when MW3 was released, it should't be too surprising for it to sell even more.

Why? Well, humans work that way, go to see the best sellers for movies, books or games and you will find a lot of by the numbers sequels that are totally worthless besides making money(around 90%-80%). Heck, even if they are crap I enjoy some of those a lot, like the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

As long as they manage to do games with high quality technical work and a couple of new gimmicks, they will sell even after we are 6 feet under.

Edit: Ohh, was it rhetorical? That always flies over my mind.

I was really, REAALLY hoping Black Ops 2 would tank. I really didn't like the direction of Black Ops 1. It had some ideas, but I hated all of them. And after playing some Black Ops 2, I was just upset with its success.

I guess I can't say I'm surprised though.

This is great news. After COD's success, maybe other companies will finally realize that there is a market for military shooters.
*claps*

I applaud your sarcasm, for it is truly epic

OT: Why is this news? I thought it was a forgone conclusion it was going to make an embarrassing amount of money.

"Fresh Ideas" "New Innovations"

Yes Hirshberg. That is exactly what you do.

Is the next game going to have 2 extra guns. MAYBE 3!?!
