Quite possibly you are. The actor however is supposed to be quite good so he could of possibly gotten there on his own merits. The thing that does sort of scream that is the fact of who he was cast as. Also Kenneth Branagh did do something in my view which was completely ridiculous with putting 1 Black guy in Hamlet. No it was not a main character it was Cornelius or Voltemand 1 of the ambassadors of Norway. He felt so out of place in the whole movie and artificial.mr_rubino said:I notice this happens a lot, with not-racists always assigning ulterior motives to people who cast black people in roles they don't approve of black people playing. It's not as if the Thor comics have very little to actually do with the pointless minutiae of Norse mythology, and they picked the guy who gave the best audition.Glademaster said:Well see that is part about this that kinda annoys me. Whether by accident or not it seems they pick the whitest of the white gods to make him black. Could of been anyone else but they pick him seems like nothing but troll bait or trying to be edgy to me.The Human Torch said:Yeah, you are right, just getting way too heated up with using the Thor name in this debate. Heimdall's skin was apparently more white than that of other gods, and his teeth were gold.Glademaster said:It is a black Heimdall not Thor. The Human Torch said:So because I don't agree with a black Thor because I prefer them to keep my childhood memories of an awesome hero intact, I am making a mountain out of a mole-hill? I wanted to see the Thor movie with Thor as I read about him in the comic books and that old Hulk movie where he guest-starred in.WolfThomas said:I think there's a difference between main characters (and important secondary characters) and what is basically a bit character. Seriously what importance has Heimdall had in the last sixty odd years of comics? He guards a bridge and ocaisonally forsees danger. That's probably all we'll see in this movie. The Human Torch said:Don't be stupid, I would have raged as much if they portrayed Jim Rhodes (Warmachine) as a white guy. Respect the source material. I don't want a black Captain America and I don't want a white Black Panther. And yes, the color does matter if you are basing a role in a movie of an existing character. As much as his demeanor, his haircut and his clothes.
Everyone's making a mountain out of a mole-hill.
Just because you see him as a secondary character, doesn't mean that others do.
That will look flashing won't it, a black guy with golden teeth. Way to racial stereo-type, right? Bring on the discriminatory problems.
I think we both know the real reason he was cast: affirmative action. Am I rite?
