If you regularly check for new Half Life 2 mods you may have seen a mod by the name of Black Snow. If you haven't played it, it's...interesting. To quote Cry, at the beginning you and your "friends get attacked by The Thing". Unlike most horror games I've played with only one monster the monster shows up fairly early: a bit after solving a puzzle this shadowy mass comes after you. If you stay in the light it can't do anything, as it stays mainly in the shadows, but it can turn off the lights when you're running away at times. Apparently you can wail on it by picking up a prop and spazzing in the general direction of it, but that's as far as you can go in self-defense. It does the Amnesia thing where you just have to run, but the monster is so fast turning around with a chair and pummeling on it helps some. Its an... interesting mod. If you've played it, state your opinion or things I've missed. Maybe there is more than one monster or something, or I was dreaming smacking it with a chair did stuff.
