I loved the soundtracks for the first two games. Now the composer leaves to be replaced by the guy who composed Requiem for a Dream! I hope that song is nothing to judge what his music for ME3 will be like as I hate that song.

I hope he tries to keep some of the themes from the previous games whilst bringing new sounds to the table. Mass Effect 2 had an incredible score and it'd be a pity if none of it was referenced in the finale.

Well this is really good news, Clint Mansell is one of the best composers in the film industry.
There busy with Tron 3. or Legacy 2 or watever disney is gonna call it.
I'd like to think that they're thinking about Alive 2014 *points to custom title.

ME3 is going to have the best music evar.
Dosent fit in with Mass effect, sure he makes good music, but if the usic dosent fit then in the game it is bad.
Stunningly, a good composer can write cross-genre.

Don't be a doomsayer, you'll just depress yourself.

That's good news, the man is an excellent composer; loved what he did in playing with Swan Lake to make the fucked-up sounds for Black Swan

Wait & see, untill then i'll judge if he did an "amazing job" or a "so-so job"

but better would have been having Jesper Kyd as Composer !

While I prefer Jack Wall's style of theme in most of Bioware's signature title's, Clint Mansell is pretty damned good himself.

Let's just hope he can do consistency right from Jack Wall's talent into Mass Effect 3. It's the last shot, after all.

The music in Mass Effect 1 & 2 was completely serviceable, but nothing sublime. The music in The Fountain, on the other hand, was mind-blowingly awesome, so this is excellent, excellent news indeed.

Seriously, listen to this and tell me that the potential greatness in integrating Mansell in Mass Effect 3 is not astoundingly fantastic.

Oh....that's a bit disappointing. Nothing against Clint Mansell, but I really didn't walk away from Black Swan or The Wrestler thinking how great the soundtracks were. On the otherhand, I sure did with the first two Mass Effect games. The soundtracks for them just fit perfectly, and I really can't imagine anything else doing any better.

And I absolutely hated the soundtrack for Requiem For a Dream....

What???? No Jack Wall??? This is an outrage!
Well, let's see Clint Mansell do anything as good as this:

Yeah, his work cut out for him sounds about right. Those are some very large shoes to fill.

Mass effects music was unique, sure he may be able to make differnt types of music, but that dosent mean he will be able to make music that fits like Wall did.
It doesn't mean he can't, either.

Same the doomsday speeches for the actual day the game comes out and we get to see (and hear) it all in full glory. I mean, really..

Oh goody, Mass effect 2 ruined the story and gameplay for me, all I had left to love from ME3 was music and visuals, now the music will be completely different, BW is there anything you wont ruin for me ? Atleast fable ruined everything and kept music and visuals, but here there wont be anything I like soon. I am dissapointed now. A games music is very important to me, it creates an atmosphere and after ME1+2s changing would change the atmosphere, sure I should wait, but I dont like this at all.

He also managed to pick the worst possible 'version' of the piece. It's had a song by someone else put on top of it.
This is a better vid
He also wrote this, which is completely different.
Holy Dread runs straight into The Tree of Life.

Oh, I liked the soundtrack to the first two Mass Effect games, Jack Wall is a great composer and he will surely be missed. Oh well, maybe the change is good

Oooooh! Maybe I'll be able to remember a single track from ME3 then.
You can't remember any of the songs from ME1 or ME2?
Not even the theme, Spectre Induction, Vigil, Normandy Reborn, The End Run, Jump Drive or Suicide Mission?

this will actually work really well. Clint Mansell's stuff is all very oppressing and you-against the world that hates you spine-chilling. and considering that the final mass effect is about Earth falling to the Reaper's and shepard's responsibility that would set the tone very well.

...Do you guys see a common theme here? Yahtzee would be going insane. We don't want a film, we want a game. Wall/Hulick were some of my favourite game composers, along with Martin O'Donnell & Michael Salvatori (Halo franchise) and Christophe Heral (Beyond Good & Evil). I sincerely doubt Mansell can emulate the following music and accompanying feelings:

Do you remember the first time you got back from Eden Prime and saw the Citadel? Do you remember your awe that such a thing existed, this construction, this society? 0:23 brings you into all this full throttle. This song embodies the heart of the science fiction genre, I think.

Even this average in-game song is good. Discovering a remote, cold city and research factory nobody cared about and everyone forgot... driving through the cold and the geth to get there... seeing what its secret really was.
Mansell has extremely large shoes to fill.

There is a reason for that. Those soundtracks are so well integrated into those films you don't even notice it. It flows so well, so natural. I'm looking forward to hearing ME3 soundtrack.
