Now anybody here who plays World of Warcraft will know that because of the recent patch glyphs are in high demand right now. Of course with high demand the seller will start jacking up the price(including me), so when i defended the seller right to set the price that they are i got flamed to oblivion and i just reaized im probably the first player to get blacklisted for defending a free market.

Most WoW players are about 10 and don't understand economics at all, judging by the battlegrounds and PuGs I've been in. Let them cry about it.

Your doing what is natural don't let them get you down.

Because lets face it the only other market system that kinda works is the one in China and you could no pay me to live there.

Second off: yes, that is wrong, but WoW is not like EVE where the players control the economy, WoW is about... well i'm not really sure at the moment.

I might be able to help with this. You see, in Wow things like ores and herbs are actually very common and avaliable in limitless supply, but only some players have real access to them. This means that these substances are highly controlled. For example I once had enough herbs in my bank to destroy the entire herbalism industry if I put them up for aution all at once. If a player needs some of these, especially those that advance a proffession or at the end of a long quest its annoying to have to pay for goods that are usually only ever 5 feet away and are unlimited.

However, unlike real life a player doesn't need this stuff to live so they could just wait for it to get some competition and the price to come down. A game world manages to avoid those nasty aftereffects of open capitalism. So in the end it comes down to players being annoyed that the last roadblock between them and success is one that they generally can't surmound by their own skills and they relly on the generosity/mercy of others to get though.

Screw capitalists! Blizzard should set the prices for all items in-game according to the needs of the player base. That way the in-game economy remains stable and everyone is capable of affording the goods.

/sarcsm. And I was referring to a Command economy. My real feelings being that of course you're right to adjust the price of the goods you're selling based on market demand for maximum profit. The problem is you're playing with little kids who start whining when they're forced to pay more than they want.
