I love them. The good ones anyway (inb4 they are no good ones), its just really fun to me. That sweet SMG spray, taking down 4 guys and watching that sweet killfeed fill up with your name. Its also really fun to play in a competitive mindset(Yea I'm that kind of person). Don't get me wrong, I love my Minecrafts and indie stuff as well but every now and I then I sit down with something like Arma 2 or Counter Strike Source for at least 4 hours. Anyone else in the same stance on the so called "bland" FPS?

Yeah, somewhat. It's a bit hollow, but I still like the generic shooter formula. Makes me wonder if anyone's thought about just making a decent singleplayer shooting engine, then just continually releasing DLC levels for it. Closest we have right now is the yearly Call of Duty episodes.

I like Medal of Honor.

The new one. Does that count?

I like any FPS, really. So long as it controls smoothing and does what it sets out to do. So, budget FPS games with big dreams and failed attempts at fancy storytelling like Darkest of Days...not so much.

It's not bland, its just your prefered type of FPS you like, if it was bland (i hate that word btw) you would be bored to fuck about them.

Medal of Honor expected too much for itself,a middle eastern shooting game expecting to be better than modern warfare 2? sorry but Mw2's gameplay is near perfect and it runs at 60 fps on consoles, you wonder why people like it.

I'm somewhat ambivalent. I love Gears of War, but I find CoD:BlOps and it's predecessors incredibly dull.

I still don't know what I liked about MoH so much, really. It just hooked me for 2-3 days straight. And that's just the campaign.

Didn't play the online for more than 3 matches, despite enjoying it.

We have enough already, yes i'll admit i play alot of the so called bland shooters.. but enough already exist, i wish Activision and EA would stop making these 1 a year franchises and start doing something interesting already.

I really like MOH, and despite it's shortness, i thought its campaign was great, and i probably enjoyed it more than that of any FPS since COD4.
Especially:
The last stand you and a few other marines make in afghanistan, where you're surrounded by taliban and you're fighting off wave after wave. I dunno what it was about it but i loved that scene, i really thought it was going to pull a COD and kill of the protaganist, and just as i was running out of ammo, about to give up and accept death the choppers you were piloting earlier come and rescue you.. fantastic.

EDIT: also, didnt even try the online, just didnt interest me but the campaign was still good

Agreed, if the whole campaign was centered around playing as the marines rather than the boring Tier 1 operatives, it would have been a great game. But don't worry there's always room for improvement in the likley sequel.

To pretty much prove your point i'd actually forgotten about the Tier 1 guys until just there, the characters and the parts they played were just really unmemorable.

They had no presence at all, at least in the "Marines Landing" mission and the finale one where your helicopter is shot down, it has a spark of that sense of greatness that Frontlines had, maybe if the game started with that scene it would have made the campaign more approchable.

Just watch this, you will get what i mean.

Arma2 bland ? I thought you were talking about Cod type games when you said bland.
Well it doesn't look awfully interesting to the common eye. I've never actually played a Medal of Honor game before.

I still enjoy some Blops from time to time. The imbalances are glaring and can get me close to raging but I can literally be in a game shooting up people in less than 30 seconds from turning the Xbox on.

I'll play Reach or TF2 if I plan on playing for a longer stretch of time since they both have more variety, but Reach has its issues like quitters not being replaced and TF2 is on my laptop which will have massive lag spikes, frame rate drops, and a mess of technical issues that the Xbox will never trouble me with.

I really liked it too. I don't know exactly what it was. I liked the slide which I have always wanted in many of these games. I think the reason I like it so much is because it has so much potential.

I saw a glimmers of a great game underneath some of the more average features. That ranger mission with the last stand in the hut was a great scene that was right out of some Frontline story or Shootout on the military. A large Taliban force closing in at range on the small unit that is running low on ammo. I actually ran out of ammo for my SAW in the last couple of minutes before the Apaches showed up.

Sometimes the "bland" or knock-off" that end up being the superior quality. Look at how Killzone improved besides obvious technical improvements. Or how Call of Duty became the superior product the MOH in the first place.

Section 8 i found very boring and uninspiring.
well, what other game lets you spawn anywhere and have star wars battlefront-like combat? its like a spiritual successor or something.
personally, i found it really fun, even just against bots, but then again i got it for super cheap.

To me, CoD4 was pretty fresh. Nice, slick shooter set in the near future with an interesting Clancy-esque plot-line and some of the best FPS gameplay in a long time. The problem was that they released a new one every year, in which they took the same chassis and put a different body on top. World at War felt like it could have been an expansion pack. Modern Warfare 2 proved that CoD4's decent plot was entirely an accident, and Black Ops was a noble attempt at fusing Cold War espionage with Manchurian Candidate, and was a reasonable deal given all the content, but felt tired

Not to say they weren't fun...but I simply lost interest.

I'm game to try almost any gritty gray "realistic" shooter if something about it grabs my attention. That's really all I ask for a game; to interest me.
