hope can get an answer here to my problem.

unbelievable.

i just build in a new cpu fan because the standard one didnt reduce the heat too well and now when i start up my pc, i have no pic on my monitor. it just stays black. it obviously detects that its connected to the card because i dont get a "no signal" message. even my mouse and keyboard have no light. there is no peeping from the motherboard, nothing.
the cpu fan is working so as my graphic card, because the fans are running. the power lite is on so as the HDD lite. just this time the HDD lite is not flashing.

i have checked all the cables, connection, the plug on the card and even the monitor. i cant find anything wrong.

my specs:
asus P8P67 evo
i5 2400 intel
sepphire 7870
500w seesonic PS

i dont know if this is important, but i did build out my graphic card and sondcard to turn around the motherboard because the old cpu fan was really stubborn to get out. the new fan from deepcool "CE edge mini fs" was easy to build in.

why the hell i have no pic on my monitor after installing a new cpu fan? seriously, i have a feeling i cant touch pc anymore because even when i clean them, there is always something wrong in the end.

You got onboard graphics? You might want to try with your GPU disconnected. While you're in there it wouldn't hurt to disconnect everything except the CPU, PSU and RAM...that's the bare minimum required to get anything on screen. If you don't have onboard I suggest the same thing but leave in the GPU and reseat it and check any power connections to be sure. If you're getting nothing at that point then there is likely a hardware issue.

I would also check the memory is in properly. Its possible that when you changed the cpu fan the memory could have got knocked slightly out of place. Other than that do what Snowy suggests and work up component by component until you have got it working. I have been building PCs since the early 90s and each time I rush and put in everything at the start, I have found I end up spending more time taking it apart to find out what I did wrong.

well, onboard card does not work either. still a blank screen. seriously, this motherboard is not even 6 months old.
have done all of these steps you have told me. nothing. pc is running, but nothing on the monitor. have been building pc apart since the damn 90s as well and something like this never happened to me before.

i even unplugged my rams and the stupid MB didnt even make a sound. i think the MB is screwed if it cant even bring picture from the onboard card and even the usb plugs dont react like my mouse or keyboard who always have a lite on.so i know that it doesnt even boot up i to windows.

edit.
after leaving it on for some time, i have noticed that the HDD lite wasnt on anymore. i pressed the restart button and it finally started up and i have the start up procedure on my screen.
i hope it will stay like this. i will come back here if something is wrong again.

edit2:
spoken to soon. once i was in win, the pc froze and not even pressing the reset button worked. had to hold down the power button to switch it off. and now after switching it back on again, the same BS as before: nothing on my screen. HDD lite always on.

This is pretty common after messing with PC innards, there are some things you can try.
Check if everything is connected and the cables are tucked away nicely
Re-seat GPU and RAM
Try booting with just one dimm of RAM, note that it won't boot up with no RAM at all.
Finally, in cases of a failed overclock or after installing new hardware, clearing the mobo CMOS helps, check your motherboard's manual on how to do that.

cables are all connected so as cards. should mention that when my pc actual started up normally, my soundcard was out. cables are not close to anything that could interfere with any fan or other things.
1 ram did not work either. i have 2 4gb ram sticks and tried each of them. nothing.

have to try the CMOS.
but how is that common? i have installed lots of new HW in to PCs and they always started up without any hassle. and all i installed was a new CPU fan. thats nothing major to my knowledge. if im wrong then i guess im not well informed about HW after all.

edit.
CMOS does not work either. screen stays black, HDD lite is constantly on. and actually the manual has nothing written about it. no seriously, nothing written about CMOS plus, the layout is completely different then what i have.
i did google it and found and found what i was looking for, but as i said before. it did not work. screen just stays black.

If your PC started normally without the sound card then its the sound card that is the problem.

i think you misunderstood.
the soundcard is not even in and my pc still doesnt start up. yes, i did build it out but still the same problem. it was just that the HDD lite wasnt on anymore and i pressed the restart button and it worked. but as soon i was in in win, the pc froze and had to press the power button to get out because the restart button didnt react. i have tried it again but the HDD lite is still constantly on and the screen stays black.

i will try again to see if i can get to run today, otherwise i have to go to a shop tomorrow. since even the CMOS reset does nothing either.

edit:
i think my motherboard makes up problems as it goes.
trying to start it again but still nothing. this time the HDD lite is off. my MB has a "memOK switch" that all of a sudden was flashing. according to the manual, it means that the DIMM (which makes me wonder why they dont call it RAM)is incompatible with the MB.
so i did what it said in the book; hold the memOK switch until it starts blinking. but it doesnt do that. instead it just restarts the pc and it keeps flashing.

so i have switched the ram to different sockets and now it doesnt flash anymore but still no change to my actual problem. the HDD lite is still off and when i press the restart button, the memOK lite flashes quickly up. no pic on my screen.

i think my MB really has an issue and have no choice but to go to the shop and get it fixed. this is just ridicules that building in a new cpu fan can cause such an problem.

well, thanks everyone for your help. if you know how i can solve this stupid problem, i am all ears. but looks like it will not work.

That's probably your best option at this point...you don't really have the means to do any further testing. One last thing to try that probably should have already been mentioned but make sure your CPU is properly seated...faffing about with the fan could have possibly partially dislodged it or something. Take it out, check for any damage and reinsert it. If not that then it's probably a motherboard issue - you've tried pretty much everything else bar the PSU but it doesn't sound like that kind of problem. Could be though. Unless you've got substitutes for every component you can only do so much.

cpu is fine. not even a scratch. even when installing the fan. my conclusion is still a failure with the MB. the shop will have all the right equipment to find out whats wrong.

well, in case you guys are wondering what the problem was; the shop doesnt know. all they know for sure is, that the MB was faulty and had to be replaced. they could have figured out what was wrong if they would have done further testing but obviously its simpler to just replace the MB.

now i have a asus H61 M-E and so far no complaints.

thanks again guys for all your help. much appreciated.
