I've been looking for a fun fighting game for quiet awhile now and recently found out about Blazblue. I love 2D fighters and got bored of Street Fighter 4 relatively fast and heard this is a good alternative. I'll get it for 360 and don't have an arcade pad so hopefully that won't cripple my performance. I can probably pick it up used at Gamestop for around $35. For those of you who have played it would you recommend it (don't leave negative feedback about the game if you simply hate the genre please)? What makes it better or worse than any other fighting game alternatives?

P.S: Getting this to hold me over until ME2 and will pick it back up after my X amount of ME2 playthroughs :p

I heard that it is really good. It's easy to learn, hard to master, and has a very diverse set of characters.

Well if you like Guilty Gear at all chances are you will like Blazblue as it's made by the same people. I've heard nothing but good things about it and seeing as it resembles Guilty Gear a lot, It's most likely every bit as good. I wish I could play it, but alas I lack a console. Oh well, just have to wait for the PSP version :p portable fighters are the best.

At the very least you could rent it, best way to go if you are unsure.

Interesting, I just got it today.

To answer the OP's question, though, I'd say yes from what I've played, and this is coming from someone who's adverse to fighting games (not out of dislike, but because I suck at them).

Don't worry I'm not too amazing myself.

I'd say that you should get it. I'm not a very big fan of fighting games for the usual reasons (unnecessarily long move lists the game expects you to memorize even though only 2-3 moves are needed, blatantly cheating A.I. that hates you to the point that you wonder if it's actually the HAL 9000, rosters full of clone characters, etc.), but Blazblue doesn't have those issues and I had a lot of fun with it. Also the soundtrack is amazing and comes free with the game in certain stores (such as BestBuy), so even if you don't like it, you'll still have gotten something good for your money.
