lol, wasn't a WOW-app a joke on some show or comic or something like that? Maybe Penny Arcade? Funny that it's real now =P
I think that you might be thinking that I'm thinking that you're thinking of this;

And yes, it is now doubly hilarious.

A monthly fee!?

No way...it would be awesome without it though...

Precisely why this needs to fail. Buying it for 5 bucks is one thing, but a monthly fee on top of the WoW monthly fee? Disgusting.
Who do you think thought that idea up? No, no prize for gimmies.
I blame [HEADING=1]ACTIVISION![/HEADING]

CCP needs to do this with EVE Online, where you can keep track of your training and corp happenings away from your PC. It may very well do wonders with the lag issues they are trying to remedy.
Agreed. I have the iclone app now and before that it was Capsuleer. I like being able to track training and market orders but being able to actually do something from your phone would be nice.

I hate Grim Batol...You can only run that place so many times and not see that wand drop before you start wanting to punch the monitor.

It's almost as bad as my hatred for Halls of Origination...The first boss NEVER drops the Hymnal.

Um.

No...

The guildies I'd be inclined to talk to offline already have my phone number and I'm not so obsessed with WoW that I need to talk to the rest of them when I'm out doing real social activities or working.

Didn't EQ have a out-of-game chat client for friends more than a decade ago? Not exactly a new concept, just on a more mobile platform I suppose.

I like Grim Batol :/
Most groups I'm in say "Oh great. The Grim Butthole again."

I find it to be not bad it's just that the original strength of the Earth Callers was obnoxious.

Edit: Sorry Earth Callers are in Stonecore.

GB is probably hated because of the Third and Fourth Bosses. Otherwise I don't know why people don't like it.
First boss can often be horrible in PUGs because people are really bad at handling the purple add. If you don't have a mage or some other class to CC it, it's even worse.

Second boss is a healer check. And the DPS love to pull aggro if he pulls out his mace first, which means they die.

People are horrible at killing the elementals and getting out of the breath on the third boss.

And the fourth boss... well, if the people in your group have poor DPS (which is very common), then the fight becomes a living hell as you suddenly get tons of extra shadow bolts coming at the party.

Oh, and the trash is brutal, especially if people do badly at the drake bombing run.

The third boss is so lame to deal with as a healer. The other 3 I don't mind at all but the 3rd one I see skipped almost universally. Or did when I played.

I get that many people make very strong connections over WoW. Indeed, you might want to talk to them sometimes. But really, there's nothing wrong with a good-old-fashioned email, or even a phone call, eh?
As far as I'm concerned, email and phone are very different from chat. For one, they're not as good for more than two people; but for another, they're good for saying things but bad for 'hanging out'. Particularly on the phone, you run out of things to say, and then you hang up. And then ten minutes later you think of a joke they'd be amused by and, what, you're going to call them again? Chat is more like being in the same room (or same house, at least).

Plus, not wanting to be left out of the conversation in guild chat means you have to be there (and was a major driver in my WoW addiction back in the day - being able to be social with my WoW friends without having to be playing WoW would have been great). Having someone call you isn't the same - any more than hearing about the family reunion from your mother afterward is a substitute for being there.
