lol Left 2 Die..., Valve probly are trade marking DotA as thier probly taking on the Devs and felt it a good idea to take on a well known title name. Its also a genre they've never touched (RTS) its kinda nice Blizzard doing a 'spoof' of Left 4 Dead wouldnt call it an attack or a telling off, but if thats what is intended rather childish.
Left 2 Die is a RTS map not shooter, it is the starcraft 2 Mission Outbreak co-op mode. The maker of that map said he is a big fan of Left 4 dead that is why he name his map after it. If you didn't notice all other maps are reference to some form of media.
Blizzard DotA -> DotA
Left 2 Die -> Left 4 Dead
Aiur Chief -> Iron Chief (TV show)
Starjewelled -> Bejewelled
Blizzard love to pay tribute to other game or movies.
Just a list of easter eggs in Starcraft 2.

From Lilo & Stitch reference to Duke Nukem reference, there are pretty much everything.
Yeh thought so didnt seem like Blizzard to shun other devs :) (I havent play StarCraft II not a big fan of the base building anymore but I like it when developers show thier 'love' for another game etc like Bungie putting in the Hayabusi armour in Halo 3.

This wouldn't tbe the first time Blizzard randomly decided to toss in 'use map settings' included with patching and whatnot. WC3 had it with a few tower defenses and a halloween theme DotA clone. SC1 had quite a few too if memory serves.

So it's not surprising, I'm sure they have a team set aside just for making these maps while working on the game and being silly as usual (I mena, come on. Warlocks on motorcycles.)

I just assumed it was a continuation of their *****-fit at Valve for getting the rights to... something (DotA, Day of the Ancients, DotA 2, D.O.T.A. - one of these at least) before they thought of it.

I mean come on, their own DotA map and "Left 2 Die" right after this?
I like how you're so busy raging at Blizz that you can't see Left 2 Die for the mere homage that it is, and instead you have to craft it into a sort of "weapon" that Blizzard is using against Valve in some war that's only taking place within your head.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. (Layer the previous statement with sarcasm.)

It's not "in my head", Blizzard directly addressed Valve on the matter, now they're doing their own DotA map and one called "Left 2 Die". The timing is curious to say the least.

I'm not raging at Blizzard - what's to rage about?

Valve doesn't have "the rights" to DotA. They've filed for a trademark. Another party has already contested their filing. The odds of Valve actually getting the mark are very, very slim.

Blizzard has been working on their Allstars map since before SC2 shipped. The other maps are a direct response to the fact that the SC2 Editor has had very little traction in the modding community.
