Hurricane Ike already saw to the closure of their sole location in Galveston, anyway, so this news doesn't affect me directly, but it does explain why they never bothered to rebuild.
Between a loss of both BlockBuster video and Hollywood video, Galvestonians either have to use NetFlix and GameFly or trust movie and game reviews more than ever or risk throwing substantial sums of money at duds which are hastily resold to Gamestop (who conveniently sells both used games and movies)if they don't buy them used from Gamestop in the first place.
If I didn't know better, I'd think that Gamestop was in cahoots with Poseidon to wipe out their cheif competitors down here!

I'm astonished Blockbuster still exists. It can't compete with the prices offered by Netflix and other such retailers. The few times I've been there in the last five years, there has been no one else in the store.
