Did he... Did he just punched out Kano's eyeball? Is that even possible? o_O
I know that, if you're hit hard enough, it can mess with your eyesight, possibly damaging the retina or optic nerve and making you go blind. But that takes a LOT of force. Plus, the eye is held in by not just the nerve, but several muscles as well. If Jax punched out the eye, then Kano either had a glass eye to begin with, or Jax is so strong he can break through 3 feet of concrete with a karate chop.

OT: Damn. That looked like it hurt. I can't wait to see what they do for Sub-Zero.

I think the director is developing the story quite well in terms of pace. As a fan however I want more! I agree with some that may be a bit too much slow-mo during the fights but not a big deal at the moment for me.

1) Enough of the goddamn slow-mo.

2) How did Kano receive no damage from the grenade that wrecked Jackson's shit? Were Jax and the grenade that far away from him?

3) Lovely surgical bit at the end. I cringed a bit, but in a good way.
1) Agreed, enough already.

2 & 3) During the surgery, they were pulling shrapnel from his face and ended up have to use a steel plate to reconstruct the area around his eye, he didn't exactly get away from the grenade unscathed.

Edit: I know they just needed an excuse to make Kano look like he does in the games (I remember playing the original in the arcades) and he did make off relatively easily, especially compared to Jax. Even Sonya was apparently out for a week and she got shielded from the worst of it.

Figured that was just fractured skull-bone from Jackson's hatefist.

The 'Birth' of the Kano we know was the pay-off for me, and worth it, that scene in general was really well made. Not so much the rest with the kung-fu theatrics. All around though I'm really liking this.

Clichéd ending - as soon as his eye gets put in...slight pause...BAM awake. End.

But hey I'm enjoying it.

Not sure how I feel about the actress they got to play Sonya though....

Police BRUTALITY at its max.

Impressive. Although they need to cut back on the slo-mo.

Also. It doesn't really feel like they covered much in this episode. Most of it was Jax and Kano continuing the fight and then getting out. All that really progressed was Kano being repaired and the lead in to Jax getting fixed too.

Still. I'm impressed

Producers, did you just spend 1 minute of a 9-minute episode on a "Previously..." recap? Seriously?
Yeah, that's my one real complaint about the whole thing. I have to ask why the recap is needed at all, but to make it that long for a video that's this short? It really stands out as a poor choice.

Looking better and better all the time.

The bone around the ocular cavity is pretty thin, so with enough force you can dislodged someone's eye, and the nerve cluster isn't the strongest so with the previous amount of force and the sudden jarring of the head, it could be torn loose.

Can't wait to see Sub Zero.

I don't know why but I get the feeling that this episode was meant to be the ending to episode 1 but they split them up because they needed more episodes or something, I'm just basing this off of the length and content of episode 1, it was longer but didn't really go anywhere whereas episode 2 was much shorter with an actual ending not just a cliff hanger and had some of the violence that episode 1 forgot.

Together, episodes 1 & 2 are good, but separately they're very poor.

I'm gonna be honest, I found it extremely dull.

There pretty much hasn't been any worthwhile characters presented at all, and the "realism" factor is the one thing that a series like Mortal Kombat could do without.

Also, it's two episodes in and only two fights each with the same character.

For realz?

[sub] Off topic: I think I am the only person in history who still thinks Reptile is the coolest character. Throughout the series as he became an actual reptile, I felt pretty let down. I honestly loved the Skorpion/Sub Zero clone, just green. I want that back[/sub]

Edit: Oh right, I remember now.

It's a ten minute episode every week. Speed it up a little director.

You think thats bad, about at the beginning of season 2 of Naruto an entire episode (about 30-40 Minutes) was a recap.....that was hard to watch....

That's quite possible, didn't even think of that. I just assumed it was shrapnel.

Its pretty good, especially when you know all the good stuff is on its way. :) Although, i read they changed the look of Baraka from the crazy doctor with implants that does capeiora in the original short to a weird looking Lord of the Rings orc failure.

http://uk.kotaku.com/5792982/baraka-sure-is-ugly

This photo alone makes me think they will fuck the rest of it up. Why cant they just let the director keep his vision of MK instead of messing with it an screwing it all to hell.
I'm with you and Kotaku there, The Baraka from the original trailer thing, while it got a lot of flak, I thought was a cool look, and if you're going to try to make all the characters human and from Earth, and quit the other worlds and dimensions stuff, then a guy who's got great surgical skills and is psychotically into body modification could end up looking like that guy.

The Kotaku screengrab looks like a goblin from a crappy fantasy B movie.

What's bugging me, and I know I shouldn't even look, but the youtube comments seemingly mainly focusing on Jeri Ryan being 'too old and ugly' to play Sonya Blade.

She's a high ranking police officer, trained in self defence and with a full time job, not a porn model. Then of course there's the fact that most of these people wouldn't say no if she showed up at their door for a date. We've only badly digitised sprites or dodgy 3d models of Sonya, I for one am pleased they didn't just get a model in, but actually chose to employ a good looking actress.

I actually think they've chosen her partly for the look, someone who's been around a while and seen some action, not fresh faced recruit. Over 30 shouldn't be 'on the scrapheap' if you're female.

I'd also have skipped the previously... bit, or cut it to 10 secs max, if for no other reason than I can't bear watching the cliched 'its protocol' 'fuck protocol' bit.
