So I just saw the trailer for "Blue Dragon Plus" on the DS and I thought: "wait doesn't Microsoft own this title?" If you don't already know Viva Pinata is also owned by Microsoft games, mainly due to the point because they own RARE, but VP also came out on the DS. Is Microsoft actually selling (or renting rather) some of their properties to other third party publishers to cash in on the DS? Or is there more to this then we know?

Well I remember from the very start that Rare continued making games for GBA when Microsoft first bought the rights to their games. I may be incorrect in this, but my understanding is that Microsoft don't own Rare, they just pay them for exclusive release of their console games. Handheld is another case I suppose, because Microsoft have no concern there.

I picked up the original Blue Dragon for £2.99 when we were having a stock clearance at work. I got a little way into it and was enjoying it, and then a whole raft of other games appeared and I haven't gone back to it. A shame really, I might not touch it for years yet and there's not much to criticise about it other than it being extremely formulaic in the sort of tired traditional J-RPG way that Mistwalker attempted to remedy later with Lost Odyssey.

Viva pinata was a sweet game, I even got a free pinata on my birthday, lol. Yay for timed events. But I haven't played it much since then, you just couldn't get a big enough garden, everything was always to freaking cramped.
Ah well, obviously I have nothing to add to this conversation, is blue dragon any good? It looked sorta lame for the consoles.
