Hey guys, i've been trying for 5 hours now and i'm still stuck on this little problem...

So today my new 8core CPU arrived with it's heatsink (old ones failed), i install them like normal to my system which i was building over time, tidy the case up as i go etc. etc. Turn it on, powers up, great first step, check BIOS, everythings registered and looks to be correctly set so continue onwards to boot, and now it's time for you all to pull your hair out like i'm doing currently...

EVERY and i mean every time it gets to the loading screen for windows it blue screens, and the best annoying part is the blue screen disappears from the screen so fast i can't see an error code (e.g. memory_management),it will then try to boot again so this is where you come in, i need some help figuring out whats wrong a list of what i've tried and specs are below)

What i've tried

- Tried wiping the hard drive (had to do this from parents machine because mine has no cd drive)
- Tried using downstairs pcs hdd which uses XP (same problem occurs)
- Tried using the recovery tool (doesn't bluescreen while using this)
- Tried taking all but 1 ram module out (and swapped the single for another just in case it was that one)
- Tried setting the voltage controls and timings for the ram manually rather than auto
- Tried disabling any overclocking which the motherboad does (e.g. turbo core)
- Tried only having 1 hard drive connected
- Probably done more but i've been going at it 5 hours with no progress

Specs

CPU: AMD FX8120 Black edition (with warranty from overclockers uk and AMD which allows me to overclock to 8150 speeds with out voiding it)
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula (ROG)
RAM: 16GB (4*4GB DDR3) 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance
GPU: KFA2 NVIDIA Geforce 460 768mb (from my old rig, works fine)
HDD: Western Digital 500GB (can get model but it's fine)
Samsung F2 1TB
Recon'd Western Digital 1.5TB * 2
PSU: Cooler Master 1000watt silent pro (from old rig, works fine)

Ruled out?
- Hard drives (the os one works fine downstairs and has never had an issue till putting in new rig)
RAM, after trying only 1 module and getting the same result and retrying with a different single module.
Motherboard? seems to be working fine, all the leds and buttons are working fine on the motherboard itself, along with 8 fans and 3 temp sensors being powered off it.

suspects
-GPU? was getting artefacts and yellow whites last week but seemed fine after taking it apart and reapplying thermal paste (was spotless anyway, think it was down to the old motherboard)
CPU? could a broken CPU cause this?
Motherboard?
RAM? although i tried different modules i suppose it could still this

Notes
-Bluescreens after doing some animation on the windows loading screen (seems to always be in the same place)
-All hard drives are SATA II on SATA III ports but as far as i know it's backward compatiable
-Everything powers up (10 fans, GPU, motherboard lights, etc.)
- Sometimes after ROG splash screen/bios press delete, it will show an american megatrends bios screen which will say at the bottom "Failed Overclocking! Please change your settings" (after the ! is not 100% accurate but it's something like that), but this seems to have stopped appearing since disabling turbo core and anythis else related to overclocking.
-Passes POST everytime.
- using the recommended 8pin motherboard power plug rather than the 4pin one next to it
- This is my first experience with AMD and ROG and so far i am not impressed =(

Any help would be appreciated, i assume i've built it correctly (same as intel only amd's cpu's have the pins rather than the motherboard?).

Thanks.

Hmm, I can only think of these points of failure
- RAM - well but you said that you ruled it out. Can you try and see if all modules work correctly when put in another machine? Just in case. Murphy's Law - if you don't check the RAM it will be the ram.
- CPU - see if it's locked properly in place. My father took apart (so to say) my PC at home and when putting it together forgot to do that. Alternatively, see if all the pins are fine and none are bent. Generally - the CPU could be a potential problem, I suspect it, since the heat sinks have been changed...although I don't think the whole thing would be working if the CPU was broken. Still, worth keeping it on the suspect list.
- PSU - a friend of mine had that - his Windows was BSOD-ing due to the PSU (it said "400W" and with really, really small letters it read "180W guaranteed"...yeah).
- check to see if all cables/parts are plugged in properly.

Im putting off looking at the cpu, the heatsink i bought for it has one of the worst mounting systems ive encountered. It seems ok anyway because the motherboard is reading the make/model, clock speex, etc correctly

As for my psu its outputs a steady 1000watts with a max of 1200watts for short periods of time.

A quick google has indicated that your motherboard may need a BIOS update to run the bulldozer chip properly.
Funny you should say that, after posting this i checked my bios version and found it too old for bulldozer (would explin why it was tryi.g to clock it at 3.4 instead of3.1 standard), it didnt support it but it still didnt fix my issues, i did however manage to get the bsod to stay on screen, error code 0x0000007b which points to something along the lines of the boot sector, memory controller, in other words it doesnt seem to like hard drive, i'm wondering if i need to install win7 with this machine in order for it to detect it. Going to go down my sister tomorrow and nick her usb cd drive.

Sorry about spelling mistakes my phone doesn't like this site too much.
