i just saw an add on a website for "upgrade your dvds to bluray", all i thought was 'wow, they must really be trying to push this bluray stuff..'. but i realize, bluray has been out for quite a while now, and i don't think anyone really gives a shit about it. do any of you use/like bluray videos?

EDIT: damit, there was spose to be a poll...
well, do you regularly buy bluray movies over DVDs?
A.: Yes!
B.: yes, but only because I have a PS3
C.: No

I still buy all my movies in DVD format unless it's a movie that really relies on its special effects.

The only Bluray movies I have are Avatar and Watchmen.

Yeah, the look good but it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Aha - yes. Oh and
I just used spoiler tags with very little if any context attached to them. I could have just spoiled the game that you've been working on, yet you still clicked. I applaud your bravado.

Anyway, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 are coming out on December 7th. Anyone else excited?

Blu-ray discs are what PS3 games come on so I have plenty of blu-ray discs, but as for movies, I don't even have a HD tv so why.

I buy DVD's only. Unless there is some 3D shit involved. Then I might dig a little deeper into my pockets.

I think they look great, but I don't want to pay much more than what I do for DVDs. Once they come down a bit more, I'll start getting more on Blu-ray.

BluRay can hold much more data than a dvd. Most people don't notice because games can still be held on a DVD, but the average MB of a video game has been rapidly increasing ever since the dawn of gaming, DVDs will be obsolete in the near future

I doubt it really looks that much better, but it holds a lot more

There, there, we can have a poll next time.

On topic time starts now.

Blu-Ray? HA! I grew up with the N64, so I'm used to things looking shitty by modern standards, and Blu-Ray doesn't even look that much better, anyway. We only have DVDs. Haw haw, I say to you Blu-Ray developers, haw haw!

I'm not a huge movie guy. I've seen an older model BD player clearanced at $150, & I still passed on it. There are only a few movies I love enough to really want to see them in HD. It's just not worth it to me yet. On top of that, a few of my favorite movies had BD reviews that said they didn't look much better than upconverted DVD anyway.

That said, I did buy the 360 HD-DVD add-on & several HDDVD movies for ~$60 after it lost the format war. Transformers looks awesome. I refuse to watch it in standard def. Superman: the movie, however, only looks a little better. It really depends on the movie. Age is not the only determining factor though. I've read some really old films look amazing. (Movies in the 80's didn't use very good quality film.)

BD is not the end-all be-all it was advertised to be. "50GB discs! Oh, there's room for everything on 1 disc!" Yeah, well there's no shortage of BD movies with less extras than their DVD counterparts, & Hollywood's already double dipping with BD movie releases. BD has great potential; just be sure to read the BD release reviews before you bother paying more for BD instead of just a DVD.

I've never bought any BluRays(aside from PS3 games). They've never really seemed worth it... I will however buy the Index/Railgun BluRays if they release them here...
