I need to design a board game for a school project, and I have a rough idea already, it's going to be a World Domination Board game, where you take over groups of countries (owned by the opponent ) one by one until you rule the world
or you can play with a friend and you both try to defend your own countries and attack the opponents

What I need is a small skill game to decide whether you have taken over a country, like a game of chess, but smaller, as it would be a very long game if you had to play 10 games of chess.

If you have an idea to make any part of the game better, please post!

Well you have to make sure it's not too much like the board game Risk. They might think you've just copied the idea down otherwise.

Risk uses the old dice system, but that's not skill at all, and is one of the reasons I don't like it so much.

I think it would be awesome to incorporate a game of chess into the battlefield (shaped like a country), with units that have the same movements assigned to them as chess pieces do, but they are rearranged (chaos of war etc) and not in loving order like in a chess game.

Board games? More like BORED games hurr hurr hurr!

Have different classes of soldiers like infantry, cavalry, and artillery and have sub-classes (Infantry could range from peasants to knights to Musketeers, something like that) and each piece has a certain numerical worth that adds to the strength of the army. Somewhat like Risk only not based on chance.
