I don't think influential is the right word to use for him...

More like "notorious"

Influential doesn't mean "nice" or "good." To use a reference from the post, Hitler was pretty dang influential. Well deserved in my opinion.

But maybe Askmen.com members are just a looney bunch of lads.
From the few things I've seen from there, this seems to hit the nail on the head. They seem like the sort that would confuse "influential" with "rich and/or awesome". That and they seem like stereotypical men, which is an issue itself since so few of us are actually like that (as I'm sure you're well aware).

Well I think this says more about the readers that were being polled than the influance of any of those people. John Stewart is a comedian, and "Old Spice Guy" is a character designed to pitch a product.

If these guys are really influanced in any serious way by either of those people I think there are some problems.

My initial response to seeing "Old Spice Guy" on the list is to wonder if somehow this poll might have been influanced by oh.... Anonymous. You know like a certain other poll where the first letters of the names of the people on the poll spelled "Also Marblecake", or something like that.

did the Escapist just plug the Rally to Restore Sanity?
awesome
Also, just finished watching the Daily Show with Jon Stewart online most recent episode.
Barrack Obama was on there.
So I just watched 2 of the men to top the list debate eachother.
Also, I love how this is all Canadian, yet only Americans ever top the list.

The writeup for Kotick's entry acknowledges his often combative relationship with gamers. "Hardcore gamers detest his perceived arrogance and utter disregard for originality. It hardly helps matters that Kotick doesn't sugarcoat his statements to the press," said Askmen.com.
...Hmm. Hang on.

"Hardcore gamers detest his perceived arrogance and utter disregard for originality. It hardly helps matters that Kotick doesn't sugarcoat think for three seconds before making his statements to the press,"
That's better.

I take the word of AskMeh.com voters with a grain of salt that I casually throw over my shoulder into a fire pit with my own resounding "meh." Their credibility was shot out of the window when Russel Brand made it on their list. How is he even influential? I don't see guys creating British has-been identities to prance around like heroin-addicted cross dressers trying to emulate the man.

Kotick is influential in a "goose-stepping fascist of video game CEOs" sort of way that makes me think twice about any Activision game, but this wasn't a very big list! Of all the influential people possible, the Askmen.com voters pick a sleazy old man fiddling with a small, plastic guitar? Just because the man has accumulated so many shattered dreams and vials of tears to sell for enough money to complete his own personal money-wife and child, I fail to see how he's caused more of an impact than any random politician or world leader, a good actor/actress, a talented artist, ect.

Hello, gamers, look at Bobby Kotick, now back to me, now back to Bobby Kotick, now back to me. Sadly, he isn't me, but if he stopped being such a scumbag businessman and respected his customers, he could be as influential like me.

Look down, back up, where are you? You're playing an activision game which didn't cost you a second mortgage. What's in your game, back at me. I have it, it's free DLC which doesn't cost you anything. Look again, you see that your money goes towards a charity for children.

Anything is possible when Bobby Kotick has decency and isn't a scumbag.

I'm on a horse.

This was from askmen.com

Seriously askmen. Have you ever looked at that website. More or less numerous ways in which one can be a jackass. Well from my experience of it. All sorts of things like "how to get her to have dirty sex with you." Articles like that.

Just thought that should be mmentioned
