There's the intimidation factor, and I want my Bond to be able to take on Batman and Chuck Norris and live. Manly power, raaah! You know, Dirty Harry style. Whether it's effective or efficient I leave to the gun experts.

I'm mixed minds on this. I could point out that any gun is intimidating if you put it into someone's face but I can't really argue your statement. The DE is one of the more intimidating guns out there, with a massive reputation as... well... being THE hand cannon and is well recognised by even laymen's who understand little to nothing of handguns. In fact, it can work against them even more in this day of Hollywood, as more people believe the near-godlike mantel that has been placed on the DE as the 'ultimate kick arse handgun that badguy always use.'

Personally I would lean towards a heavy revolver for that, .410 shotgun rounds for the win! Revolvers are just a tad more intimidating for some reason. Could be that revolvers have had longer service so are more engrained into the mind, given the whole wild west period of gun lawlessness. Could be that you can see the next round in the chamber that will be coming at you after it's sibling has been fired.

Whatever the reason though, I lean to revolvers for big intimidation guns and an auto for a smaller practical weapon.

PS: I don't intimidate with firearms. If I point one at you it isn't because I want information, it is because I plan to kill you.

I own a P99, it's a great gun and You are right, the old styled ones are much better looking.
I would prefer a H&K for Special Agent Use. To comply with the MP7 Ammo a UCP (Ultimate Combat Pistol, shares the same 4.6x30mm Ammo. Hell, it even takes the longer higher capacity MP7 Mags...) would be perfect.

I'd like to ask - what is the P99 like to fire? To date, I've only ever used airguns shaped like the P99, or airsoft 'replicas' which are considerably lighter than the real thing, and I've always wondered what it is like. Does it weigh much?

I can understand why they updated the P99 - such as the mount-groove things (if it was a NATO standard rifle, they'd be weaver/picitanny/RIS - but what are they on a handgun? RIS?) so the users can add extras as and when the please (although the MKI could already mount the Walther laser-dot, and a suppressor/silencer)
I just think they make the newer versions look awful. Especially the compact version. The origional had those wonderful sleak lines and curves in places.

Excellent points. My view may be biased by the games I play and the movies I watch. Make no mistake, I love revolvers (Navy Colt FTW). But the DE, though impractical, is in my opinion just a big hunk of metal that spews solid death. To each his own I guess.

The exact opposite of what I said. It's a Confederate revolver from the American Civil War with an undermounted shotgun. Because, fuck stealth, I've got a revolver that's also a shotgun. *****.

I'd go with a USP .45 Tactical all the way. It looks sleek, shoots well, can acce4pt a silencer, and hits you with .45 ACP bullets. Sounds good to me.

A soviet model Mosin Nagant revolver:

It is old, but it is also the only revolver that you can outfit with a silencer. A revolver is an ideal weapon for an assassin because it does not drop shells when fired. I would use incendiary rounds as the bullet would be largely marred, making tracing difficult.

Thats really just a M92 Beretta modified for top ejection and some added barrel stuff.

To all of you choosing the M92 Beretta as an "effective" pistol, take it from me, it really isn't worth a damn beyond 15 feet.

I'd like a Five-seveN, a HK USP Compact .40.
Or one of the lesser known gems from HK, the VP70: A compact 9mm holding 18 rounds with an attachable shoulder stock making it a 3 round burst.
