With the new bond film, Quantum of Solace, soon to be released, what is your opinion on the bond franchise? i was going to do a poll to see which film is the most liked but as there are loads of them there probably wouldn't be enough room to list them all. also, has anyone actually read nay of the books that the bond films are based on?
for me, the best one so far has to be GoldenEye. Pierce Brosnan made a great bond, as did Sean Connery. what/who is the best in your opinion?

I really like the Bond Series. But the recent ones are getting more action oriented then they're older counterparts. The older ones are ALL about the camp of super spies. I don't know if they were that way when they were released; But if your not in the porn industry but you have released titles like "Octo-pusy" and what not... something's a satire. My personal favorite scene is at the end of "Moon-raker" when the station blows up with Jaws and his girl on board. Bond asks how far away from Earth they are and the Bond girl of the moment gives it to him in miles and he's like "They'll make it." it's just, Jaws and Bond have a healthy professional relation ship. They genuinely like each other, they're jobs just keep them on the opposite sides. it's cute.

I really enjoyed the older ones, Sean Connery was the MAN by far.

But to be honest: I HATED Pierce. Yup, it's true. I thought he was awful in all of them (Save Goldeneye, which was a classic).

But I loves the Daniel Craig. He is awesome (Not like the older Bonds, but I think he's a more appropriate 'modern bond') and I can't wait to see the new one (I LOVED Casino Royale).

One of my dad's friends from high school married a guy with the last name Bond. They named on of their kids James. So I can say I officially know James Bond.

On topic: Quantum of Solace looks like it has too much action for a Bond movie. I'm still really unsure what to think.

Personally I liked the originals, and casino royale. It doesn't need to be a pure action movie that the bond franchise was between Golden eye and Casino Royale. I have high hopes for quantum of solace, I just hope I'm not let down.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service would've been the best bond film if Connery were in the lead and not the awful Lazenby.

Quantum of Solace looks absolutely legendary. I cannot wait for it to come out.

It's too early to tell but Daniel Craig is making a great Bond. None of the Bond films really eclipse the other, except for the later Brosnan movies and Moonraker.

The Roger Moore years where really the low point of the franchise I think. He has a higher miss to hit ratio than even Tim Dalton who only made two. I really like Connery (though I don't consider him "da man") Dalton and Brosnan. I'm still not sure about Craig The whole telling an origin story in the 21st century about a spy who started in the 60's was just really jarring for me. Nothing against Craig or even the movie CR if taken out of context. In context though it's very much a square peg in a round hole.

my favorites are in this order

Connery (hey he's Dr Jones isn't he? oh and something about him and Alex Trebek's mom too)
Moore/Brosnan (tie cause Brosnan had bad scripts that weren't Flemming based novels)
Craig (only been in one so far)
Dalton/Lazenby (can't decide who is worse)

the new one looks to be good, it's based on a Flemming novella

I rather disliked Brosnan, and loved Craig in Casino Royal. Could have done without the nudity but whatever it was a great film, and I can't wait for the new one.

Sean Connery is the best James Bond of the lot, none shall ever surpass him, but Daniel Craig is definately my number 2. He is the most believeable of the lot, still good looking, but not enough that he stands out, and willing to do nearly anything to get the job done.
